The European Men's Irish Born Team;
We are the European "Irish" Men's Team chosen to represent Europe at the 2016 GAA World Games to be held in UCD and Croke Park, Dublin this August.
We represent the 85 GAA clubs in mainland Europe and plan to do so proudly.
We will be paying the costs of travel from the four corners of Europe to Dublin, accomodation and food for the 1 week event out of our own pockets mainly, but we could do with a little help due to the high costs invloved!
The GAA World Games was first held in Abu Dhabi in 2015 and brought teams from all over the World to one place to compete in the true spirit of our sport. The President of the GAA attended this event and was so impressed by it's atmosphere, diversity and spirit that he announced that GAA HQ would organise the event in Dublin for this year.
All our players are Irish Born who live in mainland Europe having moved away from home for one reason or another. However, we help keep our games alive among the Irish communities abroad but also help promote it among the native people in our new homes.
To get the opportunity to return to Ireland and play our games at home (real grass pitches!) with other Irish emigrants and non Irish people who have fallen in love with our games and possibly play on the hallowed turf of Croke Park is a once in a lifetime opportunity for most of us. If you can help us in any small way we would be most grateful.
