Everest to End Duchenne

Donation protected
This September/October I will continue my fundraising for the Hope for Gus foundation. Last fall I introduced Gus to the Hartwick Field Hockey team. As a team, we exceeded our goal of $5,000. This fall I have a similar fundraising goal, but this time on my own. I decided to postpone the start of my career as a nurse so that I can participate in Hope for Gus' biggest fundraiser: Everest to End Duchenne. On September 25, I will begin a symbolic 17-day trek with nine others through the Himalayan Mountains in Nepal to Mount Everest Base Camp, 18,000 feet above sea level. All the funds I raise will go directly to the Hope for Gus Foundations. I have saved personal funds to cover my travel. Through the Hope for Gus Foundation – a non-profit that raises funds for research to cure Duchenne muscular dystrophy (DMD) – we’ll raise funds for medical research by pushing ourselves on a meaningful 80-mile adventure. Our efforts are a direct homage to boys with DMD who can’t trek themselves due to the degenerative disease. Together, we can raise awareness and help find a cure for the most genetic and terminal childhood illness in the world. My goal for this fall is the same, but the journey is very different.
