Esperanza (Hope) Herrera was seriously injured due to an explosion that occurred when she picked up a Package that was left at the residence of Maria Moreno in East Austin. Esperanza is the primary caregiver to her 93-Year-Old Mother, Maria Moreno, who was inside her home when the explosion occurred. The explosion caused multiple Serious Life-Threatening injuries throughout Esperanza’s body and internal organs.
(Severe internal injuries due to Metal Shrapnel throughout body,  Severe Wounds to Abdomen/Intestine, Both Legs Broken, Shattered Kneecap in Left Leg, Broken Right Arm & 2 Amputated Fingers,  Severe wounds on Face, Cheek, Chin)

Esperanza has undergone multiple surgeries and she will continue to have several more. She is continuing to fight for her life each day and she will have a long road to recovery ahead of her. Esperanza’s Mother, Maria Moreno, was inside the home when the explosion occurred. Although, Maria was not physically injured Maria is experiencing Post Traumatic Stress & emotional stress due to nature of this incident.

This Go Fund Me Campaign will use these funds to Primarily cover Esperanza’s medical expenses and continuity of care due to the injuries sustained from explosion. Any donations after campaign goal is reached will be used to to cover unexpected expenses due to this life changing attack on the Herrera Family (unexpected bills, in-home modifications, adaptive aids, repairing & securing Maria Moreno’s home, other home modifications, unexpected expenses for Go-Fund-Me Donations etc). The Family intends to deliever these donations directly to Esperanza & her husband, Joe A. Herrera, to use Donations for whatever is needed for recovery. Funds will be withdrawn and/or transfered by myself. The withdrawn amount with be presented to either Esperanza & Joe A. Herrera or a immediate Family Member in the Herrera Family to use as necassary. We are in process of setting up Trust Fund for Esperanza with these funds as well. The Herrera Family sincerely thanks everyone for their campaign donations to keep Hope alive.

Please consider Supporting other Bomb Victims & Families as well

⚠️We wanted to sincerely thank each and everyone one day of you for the generous Donations for the Health & Healing Of Esperanza “Hope” Herrera & Maria “ Mary” Moreno. As per the Go-Fund-Me Terms of Service, I wanted to keep you updated on Hope’s condition. We did have some set backs in the hospital with her recovery but she continues to fight each day to get stronger. Although we don’t have an official count, I would estimate that Hope has undergone about 12-14 Specialized Surgeries in the hospital. We aren’t sure if there will be more in the future. Hope is currently Wheelchair Bound and requires specialized rehabilitation therapy & wound care treatments to sustain her life. The road to recovery continues to be a long and hard one, but Hope still feels blessed just to be alive.

Now is the time for healing and to come together with others to help piece together our lives as Austinites. We were able to spend a wonderful Mother’s Day with our “Mom” and Grandma Moreno. We can’t thank the hospital staff enough for saving the life of our Beloved Grandmother! We have been blessed by an Angel who helped the Herrera Family unite with the Mason Family recently. They are such wonderful people that we feel forever bonded to by this tragedy. Although this tragedy was sparked by hatred & intolerance, we will not let it overtake us. We will unite as a community, as Austinites, as friends to show that Love & Compassion are stronger than Hate in this Great State Of Texas. I pray that we get to unite with the other Victims Families as well. For now the campaign will stay active but this will more than likely be one of the last updates. Please continue to share messages with Hope & Mary through this Campaign and I will make sure they see it. Once again thank you all for your Sincere Acts of Generosity. WE LOVE YOU ALL! ❤️

⚠️We ask that you please continue to Pray for Hope Herrera. Our Grandmother is still hospitalized and she will have another round of extensive surgery on her shattered Kneecap. Unfortunately the Surgeon’s said her Kneecap hasn’t been healing as expected, so they have to be more assertive with her treatment. There maybe more surgeries in the future as well. We know that a lot of extended relatives & friends still want to see her but at this time her healing and rehabilitation is priority. The Family is willing to pass along any messages to her via Go-Fund-Me email link or comments. She adores you all for reaching out with all the love & support. Please continue to keep Esperanza in your thoughts & prayers for a speedy recovery. This campaign page will continue to stay active for the time being. Thank you so much for your concern & sincere acts of generosity.❤️

Reposted UPDATE: Esperanza “Hope” Herrera is awake & working hard to recover as fast as she can. Although her Body is very Broken, Her Spirit is Not! The Herrera’s were blessed to able to spend Easter Sunday with her. Our Great Grandmother, Maria “Mary” Moreno, has been at Esperanza’s bedside every single day to pray for a speedy recovery. She has been inspired by all the Donations, Gifts, Cards, & Sincere Offers Of Generosity! She is aware of the Go-Fund-Me Campaign and feels unworthy of all the Blessings that continue to pour in. Her first questions to Grandchildren when she awake was “How’s your job going?” Or “How’s your car running?”. This is the type of person our Grandmother is. Someone who thinks of others first. Someone who is a giver & not a taker. We are working hard with medical staff to ensure, she walks again and is able to be the independent 4-Foot 9-Inch Firecracker that we all know & love! Please continue to pray for her, the other Victims, & their Families. We LOVE you all. ❤️

❤️The Herrera Family Statement has been released. We continue to be overwhelmed by the blessings & sincere acts of generosity that continue to pour in. We have heard that some family/friends missed the Family Statement Release. Here it is:

“The Herrera Family would like to thank the entire community of Austin, Texas, including the citizens of the great State of Texas, of the United States and those of the whole world for the tremendous outpouring of prayers, love and support that we have received. We also would like to thank all of the local, state and federal law enforcement agencies and their supporting departments for their tireless efforts over the last few weeks. We especially would like to thank the medical staff that has treated and will continue to treat our loved one; they're amazing!

This tragedy has been a life changing event for all of us. We understand that we are not the only victims of these bombings. Therefore, we would like to convey our deepest condolences, thoughts and prayers to the families of Anthony House, Draylen Mason, and the other victims of these horrible crimes. We are a family of faith and as we begin Holy Week and approach Easter Sunday, it is our Christian duty and obligation to pray for the soul of Mark Conditt and his family, and we will continue to do that.
Our loved one, Esperanza "Hope" Herrera remains in fragile condition and the road to recovery will be extremely long and difficult. We all call her "Mom" because she is the foundation of our family and she continues to be a source of strength for us all during this time. We ask that you please continue to pray for us and all the families involved, as we, the Herreras, will continue to pray for you all.

God Bless and peace be with you all.

-The Herrera Family”
