On 4/14/16, Trooper Ezra Ganeshananda of the Maryland State Police was involved in a serious collision on the Capital Beltway (I-495) in Prince George's County. Ezra was trapped inside his vehicle and had to be extricated by fire department personnel. He was subsequently flown by Maryland State Police helicopter to the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center.
