Ernie Reyes Jr Official Site
Thank you for taking a moment to see why and how you can make a difference. My brother, Ernie Reyes Jr., was recently in the ICU (Intensive Care Unit) fighting for his life suffering from kidney failure. Ernie is now home and currently undergoing dialysis treatment 3 times per week for 4 hours a day while waiting for a kidney transplant. This is a very challenging time not only for Ernie Jr.'s immediate family, but a challenging time for our family as well.
My father, Ernie Reyes Sr. (Founder of Ernie Reyes West Coast World Martial Arts), is 100% committed to helping Ernie however he can.
You may know or remember Ernie as a child in Last Dragon and Sidekicks, or as that teenager from Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. You may also remember him from The Rundown with "The Rock" or even his most recent star appearance on NCIS: Los Angeles. My brother has spent his entire childhood and adult life fighting in films and television, but now his battle has gone from the screen to reality, fighting for his life.
Regardless of where you have seen or heard of Ernie Reyes Jr., he has impacted peoples' lives all over the world through his extraordinary performances in television and film. Please be aware that he needs support during this time of need and recovery of his life.
Thank you for your support,
Destiny Reyes

Why do people get on here asking why these people need money?! Not everyone has Insurance and all his medical stuff cost. The medicine the treatments etc. If your going to donate, donate if not quit asking questions. So rude and inconsiderate!!!!!
I agree with a previous commenter. Please explain why he needs $75K. I've been on dialysis for the past 14 months. It's a qualifying disease for Medicare, which will pay for transplant.
Let me say this. I was on dialysis for 8 years. Medicare pays for 80%. That is all unless you have a secondary insurance. So that still leaves some individuals with expenses. Personally, it should not matter WHY it is needed. If you have it in your heart to give, then do so. What happens with the money after that is no longer your concern. Its the fact that you wanted it to go towards something great and helpful. God will handle it if it did not go towards what it was meant to go to. I pray for you Ernie and that you are blessed sooner rather than later. I received my transplant in 09. #Goingon6yearsStrong God Bless
Why does he need 75000? I've been a kidney failure patient for almost 6 yrs waiting for a transplant. Please advise.
I think that many people automatically assume that movie and television actors are all rich. But actors are actually working-class folks just like everyone else, except that most of the time we are unemployed. They work very hard to be chosen for parts in movies or a tv series - and their only asset is themselves. That's how they feed their families. Getting sick or injured is one of the worst catastrophes that can befall an actor, because it's the whole family that suffers. I have no idea how the money being raised will be used, but I do know this: the operation is only one part of the financial burden that Ernie's family has to bear right now. And I know I believe in Ernie.
I am so sorry that you are going through this; however, I really question this "GoFundMe" campaign. There are a lot of people in this same situation who are truly destitute and reaching out to the public is the only way they can get the medical help they need. Your father owns almost 50 martial arts studios in multiple states and I know, from experience, that it isn't cheap to attend since both of my boys attended for many years. Destiny has a quote on here from Ernie, Sr., saying he will help in whatever way necessary. I know them personally and they are multi-millionaires. I strongly feel that when people who have the resources that the Reyes family has do what amounts to a scam, then they hurt all the people who have no where else to turn. The people on this page deserve an explanation and if this money is truly not needed, the Reyes family should refund the money and issue an apology.
I am confused. Why isn't Medicare paying for your treatment like it does for everybody else? There is no need for you to use your celebrity status to raise money for dialysis or transplant.
I'm quite curious why $75k is needed. Lack of insurance coverage? Medication expense?
From the Last Dragon to the Rundown, I have been there, hope all goes well. May the force be with you.
I have been fighting kidney disease for over 27 years, thats more than half my life. I have had a kidney transplant that lasted almost 18 years and I've been back on dialysis for 3 years now and I also go 3 times a week 3 hours a day and have been on the transplant list for 3 years. I'm sorry for the struggles that you and your family are going through, but there are many many more people that are in the same situation and some more in need of this money than you. You and your family have been in the limelight for your entire life, so you mean to tell me that you couldn't raise the money through your schools? Did you need to go online to the world and ask for money? So many thousands of people don't even have half the resources you have through your celebrity status. We are all struggling in our lives and pray everyday for a transplant. Medicare does pay for your dialysis treatments and you can't say that you don't have medical insurance, because Obama made it a law that you have to have insurance. That insurance pays for your transplant and your meds and Medicare pays fort he rest and since you're on dialysis you can also get Social Security Disability. It also pays for all your medications after you have a transplant. I know all the costs because I have been there and I am there again. Yes, there are other things that you eventually have to pay out of pocket, but if I can live on a single income of way way under $100,000 a year, which comes from my husband and I have 4 beautiful teenage daughters, I know you can. If you have a donor lined up, your insurance pays 100% of the donor costs. A lot of other patients out there feel that you're using your status to gain the ultimate gift. If you can do that without going on the web and asking for money then great, but if you can't then you should be on the list and waiting like everyone else. You're not more special than any of us that has been waiting for years. We are all equally special and May God Bless Us All!!
I am confused as to what the funds are being used for. Is Ernie lacking health insurance? Is he planning on purchasing a kidney? When donating money I choose to be more informed on what exactly I'm donating towards. You need to provide more information. I feel for your son and want to help but more info is necessary first.
Ok for the person that said quoted about "steroids" use is somewhat a cause why Ernie needs a transplant said "unfortunately this is what can happen with steroid use...always a price to pay. hope this makes ppl more aware of the dangers of abusing this drug..if this is what caused the problem, but there are no other reasons given, so it is a definate possibility..very sad" He didn't use steroids and you know, I had no income for a month and was REFUSED Maine Care so no not everyone can get "free" care, I was refused it in Maine. Anyone that comes on here and says anything bad about Ernie is just looking for their 15 seconds of fame of riding off a real painful time. Anyone that says anything negative what so ever, you people should be ashamed of yourselves. People that even dear to judge any shape or form have no idea or do not personally know Ernie. Anyone that knows Ernie or is in Ernie's circle knows that he has had problems with his kidneys for a long time, so if you want to leave a comment, how about sending prayers and wishing him well. I mean if you were Ernie's sister, or a beloved one of Ernie, you would indeed start a fundraiser. Maybe she didn't know a price and just put that that amount. IT IS THE KINDNESS AND CARING of a love of sister for a brother is why this go fund raiser was started. Ernie's father is doing everything he can to help his son, so I mean when you post something negative, remember Ernie's family cares about him a lot and you are indeed insulting someone that is loved and his family sees that, so please take care when posting. Let's stay positive and pray and if your not a praying kind of person, just wish him well...Take care Ernie, we care a lot about you.
I'm so impressed, grateful, excited, to see so many people helping a friend so fast! It touches my heart! The biggest act of kindness of all! Helping save a life! I love all of you and am proud to be in this network of value!
Wishing you all the best and a speedy recovery! You paved the way for all of us Filipinos in Western television and I'm happy to say I've been a fan for a long time, brother! Fight the good fight, Ernie!
I am going to try and help promote on my radio show/blog talk today and give promotion to this site. I think a lot of us have watched Ernie in many films. I wish much health to Ernie and prayers.
