Erik Schwarz Memorial Fundraiser

St. Francis Animal Sanctuary

Erik Schwarz was avid animal lover and found so much joy volunteering for over seven years at St. Francis Animal Sanctuary in Mandeville and 18 years at the Pontchartrain Humane Society in Slidell. His purpose in life was to save as many animals as he possibly could.

On February 13, 2017 he passed away suddenly as a result of a pulmonary embolism leaving his 8 best friends behind, Zeke, Chance, Velvet, Pepper, Olive, Louise, Momma Cat, & Samantha as well as the communities of animals at St. Francis Animal Sanctuary & Pontchartrain Humane Society where he volunteered to help place animals for adoption.

In his memory, we are holding the first annual fundraiser to benefit St. Francis Animal Sanctuary and Pontchartrain Humane Society and would love for you to join us in Erik's memory on March 3, 2017 to celebrate his life and continue his work helping the animals of these amazing organizations.



The ST. FRANCIS ANIMAL SANCTUARY became home to Erik every Saturday, where he would help take care of the animals and help with adoptions. These videos are from the "Cat Room" taken by Erik while volunteering to take care of the cats who are up for adoption. This amazing organization operates a no-kill sanctuary on 48 acres and provides care to animals working to get animals adopted. www.sfas.org


Every month, the volunteers at PONTCHARTRAIN HUMANE SOCIETY pitch tents in a parking lot in Slidell, put signs up, and host a PET ADOPTION DAY for the public. They have no shelter - volunteers foster dogs and cats and bring them to the event. It is considered a good adoption day 4 or 5 animals can be placed with new adoption parents.

 As you can imagine, planning has been difficult in light of our loss, but we know that Erik will be overjoyed if we are able to help the animals that he loved so dearly!
