In Loving Memory of Eric
On March 6, Eric Shim was struck by a vehicle in a crosswalk near his house. Despite our unceasing prayers, Eric passed away a week later and his organs were donated to 6 people. A month has already passed since this tragic accident.
It is said that memories fade with time, yet the weight of the pain felt by Eric’s parents seem to grow no smaller. The car accident near his house, the week-long struggle in the ICU, the organ donation that gave a new life to six others, the devastating funeral - A series of events that no one had expected when Eric left for school a month ago. Since then, he has parted forever with his family and friends.
Eric’s parents, still stricken with grief at this unthinkable reality, say it is their greatest fear that Eric will be gradually erased from people’s memories as time passes.
Therefore, to let Eric’s parents know that they are not alone in these difficult times and to help Eric be remembered forever by his parents, friends, and all those who knew him, we are asking for donations towards Eric’s Memorial Fundraiser.
Your gracious donations will be delivered to Eric’s family for the establishment of a Memorial Bench in Eric’s honour and financial support towards the traffic accident lawsuit.

지난 3월 6일 집앞 횡단보도에서 어이없는 교통사고를 당했던 재헌이가 우리들의 간절한 기도에도 불구하고 사고 일주일후에 6명에게 장기를 기증하고 떠난지 벌써 한달이 지났습니다.
시간이 흐를수록 기억은 옅어지기 마련이라지만 재헌이 부모님의 고통의 무게는 더 깊어지고 있습니다. 집앞 횡단보도에서의 교통사고, 중환자실에서의 일주일간의 사투, 6명에게 새로운 생명을 주는 장기기증, 너무 참담하고 슬펐던 장례식, 학교에 간지 한달만에 재헌이는 한 줌의 재가 되어 집에 돌아왔지만 이제는 부모님 그리고 친구들과 영원한 이별을 하게 되었습니다.
그런데 지금도 믿을 수 없는 현실에 좌절하고 아파하는 재헌이 부모님의 가장 큰 걱정은 시간이 지나면서 재헌이가 사람들로부터 점점 잊혀지지 않을까하는 두려움이라고 합니다.
따라서 우리는 지금 이 고통스런 상황에서 재헌이 부모님이 절대 혼자가 아니라는 것을 느끼게 하고, 재헌이가 부모님과 친구들 그리고 재헌이를 아는 사람들 모두로부터 영원히 기억될 수 있도록 하기 위해 모금운동을 전개하고자 합니다.
