Please read the updates for the latest information.  The original story from when the campaign was launched is below.  Thanks!

On Sunday December 2, 2018 we were surprised to see a large sailboat had run ashore and was stranded near 61st Street Beach in Sea Isle City, New Jersey.  While walking the beach that morning we met Erik Wade, the owner of the 36 foot sailboat he calls home.  Erik was sailing from Boston, MA to Key West, FL when his anchor line snapped as he slept that night.  He was abruptly woken up when his sailboat ran aground.

The boat is now stranded approximately 50 yards from the water and Erik is in danger of losing his home, a sailboat he values at $40,000.

Having put most of his money into the boat, Erik does not have the funds to hire a towing company to safely guide his home back into the water.

If Erik is forced to abandon his sailboat, his home may be auctioned off to cover the expenses of having it removed from the beach.  Details can be found in the link below as reported by Sea Isle City News.
