For those who are not familiar with me, I go by the alias "crinacle" and "La Cenric" on the audio forums and am known for my In-Ear Monitor measurements and my subjective ranking list of said monitors.
My future objective is to go further with this concept by measuring headphones with a portable kit as well. With the recent release of miniDSP's EARS system, I find myself closer to that goal as the process of creating my own DIY rig tailored for headphone use is a mess at best and unreliable at most. The use of a purchasable All-In-One system allows for my data to be further extrapolated to other users, similar to that of the Dayton IMM-6 rig that I use for my IEM measurements.
Going beyond that, every dollar beyond the US$200 required for the miniDSP EARS system shall go into purchasing a high quality multimeter. This equipment will be used to measure the impedance of aftermarket cables (mainly focusing on those in the IEM industry) so as put a value on their effects to sensitive IEMs with non-linear impedance curves.
The cost breakdown for these projects are simple:
Headphone FR database - miniDSP EARS: US$179 + US$20 shipping
Cable Impedance database - Multimeter: flexible
If it does make the deal sweeter all donators will, of course, be credited once the database goes up.
