“Leading with Passion, Empowering a Society and     Generation”

In 2012 Empowerment for Exceeding Together E4E2 a 501©3 non-profit organization, was founded by Priscilla Robinson, a retired teacher and administrator of Bay City ISD with 30+ years of experience. Her passion and dedication have impacted the lives of adults and young adults in the community. The students have graduated at an expected rate of ninety percent for five consecutive years. Empowerment for Exceeding Together (E4E2) organization dedicated to meeting the educational needs of nontraditional students who reside in Bay City and Matagorda County.

The E4E2 mission is to offer training, education and job placement to economically disadvantaged people who seek to improve their quality of life and be productive contributors to society.

Many high school drop-outs miss the chance to realize their dreams. We believe that every person is capable of succeeding and deserves a second chance. E4E2 provides life skills training, education programs, and job placement support to these people.

E4E2’s programs promote the personal and professional growth of individuals. We recognize that financial burdens and low self-esteem prevent some in our society from realizing their full potential. Our education and career programs strive to let participants, without regard to their race, sex, age, disability or economic background, succeed in life

E4E2’s mission is strengthened by embracing the following beliefs:
* Focus on each accomplishment, talents, and abilities
*Enlighten and educate citizens from all walks of life
*Advocate fairness for the disadvantaged and underserved

Improve the quality of life through career development and self-sufficiency. We want to ensure that young people realize they could play a role in making Matagorda County a better place. We wanted to show that it wasn’t all about doom and gloom, that doing well could be a good opportunity but at the same time that each and every young person in the county could make a real difference in their community.

We have really made good progress. Young people who were not doing anything to improve their community, who are now positively active and promoting change. They are fundraising, volunteering, establishing social projects and setting up community initiatives. Contributing to the community is a proud moment in the county.  E4E2 believes that this was only possible because of the four fold process to student learning: educate, equip, engage, and empower.

Engagement: We need to proactively engage young people. Decisions, decisions, decisions. It seems that everywhere we turn there is another decision to make: What to eat, what to wear, what to do, how to do it, when to do it, whom to do it with, etc. Every day, there are dozens of decisions to make, starting from the moment we wake up and ending when we finally fall asleep at night. If you are alive and conscious, then every day, day in and day out, week after week, month after month, year after year there are decisions made. In a single lifetime, a person will make an enormous amount of choices. This is not the end, we each must learn to make our own decisions. While well-meaning parents want to protect their children from the mistakes they made, what they forget is that the wisdom they now have is a result of the decisions they have made in the past and what they have learned from those decisions. If they deprive their children of making their own decisions and learning from those decisions, then they deprive their children of learning how to:

*Find their own way
*Think for themselves and make their own choices
*Discover what works best for them
*Have confidence in their ability to make good decisions
*Trust them
*Take responsibility for their own lives
*Depend on themselves to know what is best for them
*Have courage
* Be their own person

It is my goal as an educator is to offer guidance for young adults to help them become happy, successful adults, then helping them to make proactive, responsible decisions is a major step toward achieving that goal.

Equipping: Let’s help young people develop the skills and confidences needed to make a real and meaningful impact. Many young people in our country have massive potential once they realize they have a role to play in the future of children, but they must be supported to fulfill this potential. Very few people can start up a new social business with little or no experience working with the social organization. However, if someone has developed a history of actively working with a series of organization on a series of projects with various commitment levels they are much more likely to be able to take the next step and start up their own initiatives. E4E2 believes that by building a structure where students can easily get involved in social action on a level which suits them, we can facilitate more and more students to get out there making a wider deeper impact in society.

Empowering: We must support young people to get out there and start-up their own projects.  It can be a daunting task to set up your own social project or community initiative. Even with all the passion and experience in the community, many young people just don’t know where to start. E4E2 believes by providing a support system of community involved people that can help young adult through community projects. Who have been there, as well as knowledge to get access to areas such as finance, law, and marketing, we can make it easier for young people to turn their dreams of a better stronger community into a reality.

E4E2 believes by engaging, equipping and empowering the youth of today that we create a critical mass of young people striving to create something great, something we are proud to present to the community. While generations have gone by, I’m hopeful that my generation and their generation reminisced as the generation that left a footprint in Bay City and Matagorda County.

Your donation will make a difference in the lives of others while building a stronger workforce in the county. Investing monthly open doors to HOPE!
