Greetings lovely people!
I am hoping to raise funds to help offset the expenses of traveling abroad to Paris, France and Amsterdam, Netherlands with the Murray State University Study Abroad Program from Dec. 26th, 2014-Jan. 9th, 2015.
In total the program expenses are approximately $4200 which covers roundtrip airfare, housing, breakfast daily, two group dinners, and points of interest for study. Additional expenses not included in the program fees include travel insurance ($37.50 through the University), passport ($120 (update: Passport ended up costing $25 for processing through the postal service, $15 for the passport photo, and $110 for the passport itself for a total of $150)), meals daily (14 days of lunches and 12 days of dinner estimated in U.S. dollars to amount to roughly $300-$400 based on the current exchange rate of $1US=.78Euros and the cost of meals in areas of Paris heavily dependent on tourism) and finally, I have allotted about $200 in "souvenirs" for the kids. This brings the final total to roughly $5000.
Currently I already have $2500 officially put aside and anticipate saving an additional $750 over the coming months while also being able to use approximately $1000 in school funds from my Spring semester funding. This leaves me hoping that I might be able to find additional sources of funds prior to departure to help offset the remaining expenses. Any amount over the program expenses and my sustainability will be used to purchase tickets/admission to historical sites which are not included in the program itinerary during my program scheduled "free time." (The Cathedral of Notre Dame would be one such location in Paris while the home of Anne Frank would be a location in Amsterdam I would like to visit.)
