Eniid's Recovery from Cancer

$14,099 of $35,000 goal

Eniid Goodman is a mother, a recording and visual artist, and an art teacher for kids. Eniid and her husband, Tiki (Chris) Tie, are parents to five children, age 14 to 24.  They live on their organic farm in Wakefield, Québec, and have been part of that vibrant community for years. Eniid has dedicated her recording career to honouring and sharing the legacy of Joni Mitchell.

In March of this year, Eniid found a lump in her neck and sought medical attention right away. After many tests, she was diagnosed with Squamous cell throat and neck cancer. This diagnosis was devastating to this 44 Year old mother and artist. Since then, she has experienced a lot of pain, has little energy and has focused on getting the best options for treatments.

Eniid will undergo treatment in Montreal at the Jewish Hospital. This means that she, along with her husband, will move to Montreal for the duration of the treatment, which is expected to last for six weeks. Eniid will receive daily radiation for five days, as well as one round of chemo every week. The doctors are also installing a feeding tube directly into her stomach in case her throat is too sore from the radiation to eat. She has already lost a considerable amount of weight so the doctors want to ensure she keeps her strength up while receiving her treatments and the long recovery afterwards. Tiki will be there to take care of her and ensure support through the treatments. This is very hard for both of them, as they will be away from their children, their home, their animals and their community.

We expect she will need support for the next 4 to 6 months, the likely duration of her treatment and recovery process.

Please help

We are asking you to support Eniid as she faces one of the greatest challenges of her life. Please help raise $35,000 to cover the costs of living in Montreal during the six weeks of the treatment, health modalities e.g. acupuncture, Rieke, cranio-sacral therapy, to name a few, which have already considerably helped ease her pain.  In addition, both are self-employed and she has been unable to work since the diagnosis. Tiki had to significantly reduce his working hours to take care of her and will not be able to work once in Montreal.

Any amount you can give is greatly appreciated! As she’s well known in the Wakefield area, please help spread the word to reach all those who would love to support her. As she’s also well known in the music community in different parts of the world, it would be greatly appreciated if anyone could spread the word there as well!

Thank you so much for your help!

Message from Eniid:

Words can not express my deep gratitude & love to all my friends & who put together a compilation of them singing one of my favourite songs “You’ve Got a Friend.” I am floored by your gesture of It couldn’t have come on a more perfect day. I had hardly slept due to nausea & then threw up half my medication so I ended up on IV in the hospital.......and then I received your wondrous gift. I can’t watch it as often as I’d like bc it makes me cry and that hurts my throat Sending u all so much love. This too shall pass xo I’m going to try & tag everyone (over the next little while) but I have chemo brain so please forgive me if I miss u xo Marissa Levy Lerer David Massar Dar Williams Michele Gedney Lisa O'Neill William Joseph Smith Joseph Windows To Sky Kara Enz Raquel Vidal Denise Grant Sue Radner Horowitz Maura Tennor Maura Salins Greenman Lindsey Massar Michael Schenkel Carol Crittenden Susan Romano Tamar Avishai Marisa DebowskyAdam Lerner Craig Rosenberg Jim Terry Jon Stewart Rick Gedney Kristin Dissinger Andrew Craig

Hi everyone!

Thank you so very much for your donations!

Carol is at the halfway point of her treatment.

Good news: cat scan shows that her tumour has shrunk more than 70% at this time!

Carol is having a good week! She and her family are ever so grateful for the invaluable help received so far. She attributes her limited reaction to radiation to all of the prayers and good vibes you've sent her way. She sends her love always. <3

She is still running into people who are unaware of her diagnosis and who would like to support her through the gofundme campaign, so please help by sharing this campaign with your contacts!

Dear partners,

Thank you so much for your generous support.

Carol would like everyone to know how touched she is for all the support for her and her family. She is grateful for all who have contributed to the Go Fund Me and through a benefit show at the Black Sheep Inn and other personal contributions.

It has made a huge difference in her ability to focus on healing and having her husband by her side. She hasn't had the energy to post because the chemo and radiation take a lot out of her. So we are doing it today on her behalf.

Update provided by her friend Carrie :

Carol has just passed her first week of getting radiation treatment daily and once weekly chemo at the Jewish Montreal Hospital. It has gone as well as can be expected, according to the doctors. She and Tiki were back in Wakefield last weekend but are not sure when they will be able to be around Wakefield, as the treatments will be continuing for another 5 weeks. They are playing it day by day as she feels how she does.

She listens to Joni Mitchell while getting her treatments, which brings her great joy. Although the radiation doctor has told her that her voice will most likely be affected by the radiation, she is praying for a miracle and is asking for prayers in support of her being able to sing Joni Mitchell songs when she gets better.

Carol's favourite album is "Blue" and what she would like to end with is a quote:

"Love is touching Souls. Surely you have touched mine."

You can continue to support her by sharing this campaign on your social media platforms, with your friends and communities. Every donation helps!

Again, thank you so very much for your support. We will keep you informed of her progress.
