Please help raise money to help my family who survived a devastating fire that destroyed their apartment early in the morning on February 15th. Katie, who was roughly 7 months pregnant, Andrew, and two of their three boys had to jump out of the window from their third story apartment in order to escape the fire. They made it out with only the clothing on their backs.

Andrew is in the hospital receiving surgery on a broken tibia and knee while Katie is being transported from Anchorage, AK to Seattle, WA to a hospital there that would better be able to manage her injuries. Katie is suffering from broken vertabrae in her back and severe burns. In addition, prior to being transported to Seattle, her baby girl went into distress and was delievered via C-section. Baby girl is healthy and currently in the NICU.  All of the boys are safe and physically unharmed.

Katie, Andrew, and their children survived this fire, but lost everything. Lucas - 14 years old, Logan - 10 years old, and Linden - 23 months old, and newborn baby girl, are now without a home, without clothing, without everything. Any and all donations will be very much appreciated as they will be used right away to provide the Engelking Family with the basic necessities they need as they start to heal from this tragedy.

Update 6- 4/22/17:
We wanted to send a huge THANK YOU to everyone who has helped our family during the last few months. Your donations, support, and continued thoughts and prayers have helped bring our family together, heal, and be able to move on from this tragic event. We couldn't have done it without you!

As a thank you, Katie and the boys have put together a short video in appreciation:

~THANK YOU!

Update 5- 3/19/17:
It's been a while, but I have some wonderful news! Katie is back in Anchorage and has been reunited with her family! Everyone is continuing to heal. The road to recovery is still a long one, but at least the family is back together. Thank you all for your continued love and support!

https://www.adn.com/alaska-news/anchorage/2017/03/17/no-other-choice-dad-caught-kids-as-they-jumped-from-fire-but-pregnant-wife-landed-hard

Update 4- 2/22/17:
Sorry the update is a bit late. Katie had a successful surgery to get the skin graph on her right arm. Fortunately, this is the only skin graph needed! Burns on her face are healing very well. Overall healing is going well.

Andrew is out of the hospital and back with the boys healing.

No new updates on baby girl.

One week later and could I am so grateful to see my family alive and healing well. Your prayers have been so powerful! Thank you for all of your support :)

Update 3- 2/18/17:
Breathing tube has been removed and I heard my sisters voice today. Katie's back surgery went well yesterday and she's expected to make a full recovery after some therapy. She has been removed from trauma care and has been transferred to burn care.

Andrew ended up staying another day in the hospital. He should be heading home tomorrow. He's been receiving therapy since his surgery as well. Baby girl has already gained weight in the NICU and doing well.

I'm amazed with all of the kindness everyone has shown towards my family during this time. You all are reminders that there is good in this world. Thank you for your continued love and support <3

Thank you and please continue your efforts to heal my family.

Update 2- 2/17/17:
Everyone has been so amazing with your generous donations, thoughts, and prayers!

Info coming straight from my parents- Tom and Christine Ewell:

Doc says Liberty is doing better than they ever expected. She is active and said that Katie took very good care of herself during her pregnancy. Katie is about to (or already has) gone into surgery for her lower back to repair fractures. She can see out of both eyes, moving limbs fairly well, and is very alert. Tube will be coming out at some point today. Andrew is recovering well and should be leaving the hospital sometime today.

Many have been asking about material donations, sizes, and where to send them. If you want more information, send me a private message or directly contact Tom Ewell or Christine Ewell.

Thank you all so much for your continued love, support, and prayers. It's still going to be a long road of recovery, but the prayers are working!

Update 1- 2/16/17:
Thank you everyone for your love and support. Andrew had a successful surgery and is now recovering. My Parents made it to Seattle and are with Katie. At this time, doctors do not think she will need back surgery. However, her burns are extensive and she will be in Seattle for a while. They delivered the baby before transporting her and Baby Girl should be fine after a nice long stay in the NICU.

My nephews are safe with some family friends.

This is going to be a long road to recovery. Everything was lost. Please help in any way that you can. Your support is beyond appreciated.

The out pouring of love and support has been phenomenal. Please continue to pray, send good vibes, and positive healing energy their way.
