Enfield Outing Club's Fence Project

Let me introduce myself.  My name is Kevin Howard.  I am a 30-year Air Force Veteran and a life member of the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation (RMEF), the National Rifle Association (NRA), and the former North American Hunting Club (NAHC now Scout).  I am the former New Jersey State Director of Ted Nugent United Sportsmen of America, Merchandise Chair of the Upper Valley Chapter of the RMEF, Committee Member of the Upper Valley Chapter of the Friends of the NRA, a New Hampshire Let’s Go Fishing Program Instructor, and current President of the Enfield Outing Club (EOC).

Established in 1934, the EOC is a small community of outdoor enthusiasts dedicated to the American tradition of sportsmanship.  Our not-for-profit club is the second oldest, continually operated club of its kind in New Hampshire and the oldest civic organization in our town of Enfield, New Hampshire.  Comprised of members from all over New Hampshire, Vermont, and Maine, our primary focus is teaching firearms safety as well as sport shooting, hunting, self-defense, youth programs, and other educational programs.

We have been in our current location since the 1950’s.  A few years ago one of our neighbors decided he no longer wanted to live near a shooting range and decided he would try to have us shut down.  Our story is typical, we were forced to go to court to fight for our constitutionally guaranteed, 2nd Amendment Right to keep and bear arms.  These fights cost money.  Our club charges very minimal annual dues to our members so after draining our bank account to pay thousands of dollars in attorneys fees, we’ve had to suspend an annual scholarship we used to award to a deserving high school senior along with necessary facility upkeep and updating.  Through arbitration, we were able to reach an agreement with our neighbor.  The result being that the club has to build a fence by a November 1, 2018 deadline, which is rapidly approaching.  This in turn will create a need for gate relocation, improved parking, driveway work, and tree and landscaping work that will also need to be addressed.

Upon completion of the project, our neighbor will then be prohibited from bringing any other issues against the club.  In other words, law-abiding gun owners will have scored a rare victory.  We can continue to help teach responsible gun ownership and inspire the next generation to pick up the torch.  Once again, we can award scholarships to deserving young adults pursuing a degree in an outdoor oriented career field.  We will be able to provide a place for social gathering and foster camaraderie and unity of like-minded individuals.  However, we need your help.  We ask that you please donate what you can afford and forward this to everyone you know to help make the dream a reality.

If you rather, we also have a commemorative brick fundraiser going on.  You can purchase an engraved brick, which will be sent to the club for placement around our flag monument.  Your name, that of a loved one, or a special sentiment will be a permanent testament to your generosity and willingness to stand up to protect our freedom and guarantee our 2nd Amendment rights.
