Energy Team Trip to DC 2018

The Environmentalists are a team of students from Bednarcik Junior High School in Aurora, IL that is dedicated to improving our world through recycling and energy conservation.
The team has been working hard this year teaching our community about environmental issues. They have been recognized by The National Energy Education Development Project as 2018 Illinois Team of the Year and will receive a National Award for Outstanding Community Outreach Program.
Students have developed a recycling plan and an energy audit program at school and have started to reach out to other schools and organizations. They have created a series of energy conservation music videos and provided daily tips for students and families. They held recycling drives, made recycled art work and did several community service projects.
As part of the recognition weekend in Washington, D.C., we will be able to attend workshops which will allow us to share the programs we do at school but more importantly it will provide opportunities to learn new strategies and develop leadership skills to help our team make an impact on our community energy usage and conservation efforts.
We are hoping to raise enough money to send our team to the event. The money is needed to help pay registration and travel cost. Currently we have enough funds to send 3 students but we are hoping more members of the team can share in this experience.
