End the Epidemic

Donation protected
Hi! My name is Melanie and I want to tell you a little about my sister, Natalie.

Natalie was... Amazing. Outgoing. Fun and full of life. Talented beyond measure, loving beyond belief.

She was a singer and later, a songwriter.

She was a sister, a daughter and a friend.

She also had an addiction.

On May 19th, 2016 Natalie was found by her best friend, dead of an accidental overdose. She had been clean and sober for nine months prior, learning to make a living,  learning to make a life.

There was so much she had to give. She did give, generously, and... there was so much more.

The disease of addiction stole her from us and part of the problem, I believe, is the pressure to do recovery perfect. There is so much shame that is attached to drug use/abuse and relapse... it's got to stop. We HAVE to be able to talk about these things. People are not going to ask for help if they fear being judged or punished.

I, along with family and friends, am on a mission to End the epidemic.

Shame ends with "me". That is the basis for this campaign.

I have never done anything like this before. When gofundme asked me to enter a goal amount, I froze up a little. I have no idea about how much everything will cost to produce and distribute but I have to start somewhere... I will use this
money to be able to make t-shirts, cell phone cases, magnets any and all products that will showcase and inform people it's ok to make mistakes, be human and to NOT BE ASHAMED. There is help out there. Shame can be almost as detrimental as drug use itself and like the title says: ShaME -shame ends with me.

I'd like to donate a part of the money raised to Progress Valley where Natalie attended treatment and some of the money to the Steve Rummler Hope Foundation who has been working so hard since 2011 to educate people and medical personal on the dangers of over perscribing opiate medications.

I got to have 36 years with my little sister and I'll tell you, if it'd been 136 years? It still wouldn't have been enough.

This cause means the world to me. Please join me in the overwhelming fight against drug addiction, we need all the help we can get!

Thank you so very much.

I have created a wishlist. The price for each wishlist item is per unit.

To learn more about Natalie (or me) and go along with me on this journey through grief and healing, please check out my blog and follow along! This is also the place to view the design idea I have for these shirts and other related products.
