Help Bishop end Hot Car Deaths
To Donate to support his manufacturing efforts click here: Manufacturing Oasis
WHY BISHOP STARTED HIS MISSION: I am Bishop's dad ( Bishop Curry, IV ) I set up this GoFund me to help my son Bishop, V raise the funds needed for his invention to go from concept to creation. We live in Texas where hot car deaths are far too common. Bishop already has a provisional patent and a 3D model of his invention. Based on guidance from our legal team $20K is the minimum that it will take to help Bishop complete his journey to save lives. ALL of the funds that you donate will go towards the attorney fees needed to finalize the patent, protoyping fees, and to help identify a manufacturer. Bishop is a 5th grader who is fascinated with making things. From creating a home-made catapult and ping pong ball cannon, to thinking of ways to melt ice and snow on roads without using salt. His latest idea is getting more attention - a car seat that can help prevent hot car deaths in children. "I made a clay prototype and the invention's name is Oasis," Curry said. Saddened by a hot car death of a 6-month-old named Fern in his town, Bishop aspires to build a device that will detect when a child has been left inside a hot vehicle and alert parents to the child's situation. The device will also come with the technology to help cool down the child while he or she waits to be rescued. http://www.amtrib.com/news/20170110/melissa-ridge-student-working-to-save-children-from-hot-car-deaths

If you need help sourcing manufacturers for your product, I will help you 100% free of charge. I have a database of over 3,000 manufacturers in India, China, Hong Kong, Vietnam, USA. Currently live in China. I am from Arkansas. Have been in manufacturing my whole life. Father too. Currently in China to manufacture my invention. Would be proud to give you anything you need.
You need to go on Shark Tank. And purhaps set up a different way for people to donate. gofundme takes a percentage of the donations.
Our babies saving babies! Love you and bless you!
Sounds great, but you need to think through the costs. If you put the whole life support system in the car seat it will be way too expensive. (remember these types of accidents are rare, so you need to get your technology into thousands of seats, just to save one baby....) The car has brains and power. What it needs is a simple baby-detector so it will know to keep the heater or AC on, or sound an alarm, or somehow notify the Owner, 911, OnStar, etc to the emergency. How about just putting a sensor in the car seat and blue tooth communication that tells the car 'baby on board'. Maybe as simple as detecting when the little buckle is clasped and telling the car that? As soon as the baby is strapped in, the car knows it has a life to protect! Ideally, if you can make a proof of concept you can lobby the car and car seat makers to agree to use it. (Or get the government to require it, like they do seatbelts and airbags)
What an amazing person this child already is!!! Good job to the parents for raising this boy right and congrats to Bishop because he's gonna have a bright future!!! Thank you for this!!
I am so moved by you and the great work you are doing. My son passed in 2001 after I unknowingly left him in my car. Thank you for working so hard to stop these tragic losses. I am moved beyond words.
You should definitely try and create a kickstarter page.
I hope your idea works out for you and all the children lives you may save with your invention, Very good thinking. I also have been thinking of a way to save them from dying in hot cars, a couple of months ago I posted on face book that I thought that I had figured out a way to save children and pets from dying senselessly in hot cars, unfortunately I haven't had the time to work on it . It's a little more complex idea than yours, but sometime simple is better. This is a problem that needs to be fixed, so stay with it and solve the problem. YOU CAN DO IT!!! Don't let anyone or anything stop you, there's a lot of kids counting on you, If you need any help with ideas or working out a problem let me know. I have 11 grand children and 3 great grand children, one of my grand children when he was 2 or 3 almost died in a hot car he climbed into locked it and couldn't get out of, Luckily my wife came home from the store and walked by the car and heard him. Another 5 minutes it probably would have been too late!
I have some additional thoughts: A sensor that detects if the baby is in the seat when the keys leave the proximity of the car and then set off the car alarm, as well. A sensor that opens the windows? A sensor that interacts with the vehicles phone and calls 911?
Based on what one of the other people said about go fund me taking a percentage of the money, maybe try using Kickstarter instead. Good luck!
Go on Shark Tank.I'm sure they will help you.
Hey there guys. i was rather curious about how the oasis device will work? Are you planning on using some form of compressed air to cool down the hot cars? Will the oasis have an exhaust port (similar to the death star if youve ever seen star wars) for the hot air to vent out of the device? And if so how will you protect the kid if he has the exhaust pointed at his face (kids are finnicky lil boogers and I foresee that happening). I am all for the idea of this device & have my finger teetering on the donate button (was thinking of donating 1/45ths of my paycheck, about $250) but I would like to know a little more about how exactly this magick box will work as I would kick myself if this ended up being a pipe dream!
If you setup a team of people to add more features/services. Include me will answer questions for free for you... it is always best to work with a team... also get with graco car seats.
Dear Bishop, Hi! My name is Karen, a Korean student living in Beijing, China. It is cold in Beijing these days. I have to wear thick jumpers. I’ve recently heard that there are hundreds of accidents where children die in hot cars in America. In fact, children who are left alone in China are easily taken by strangers so I've never seen these accidents before. I've heard that there are more than 700 cases in America, but people haven't figured out how to save the children. However I'm so glad you came up with a way to save them. It is great you can save the kids. This idea is still in support, but I hope you can manufacture the machines that you have designed. Even though you are just 10 years old, you've got a brilliant idea that can save a lot of lives. I've even wanted to exchange your brain and mine. Make sure to produce and sell them! I'm looking forward to it. I hope this will reduce the number of accidents next year. Thanks!
Great idea! I want to support you, but need to know more. Have you made a prototype that actually works? Or is just in the idea stage?
This is wonderful....You are awesome! Once you get the prototype will you be doing this on Kickstarter so you can get the backing you need?...let me know, I'll join in there as well! Best wishes!!!
I had a few more ideas: Sensor syncs with car proximity sensor when weight is in seat and when keys leave the proximity - similar to how car will not lock if keys are too close and if keys leave proximity, car alarm goes off or windows roll down or car phone dials 911
May I also suggest the ability to also contact 911 if the car gets to a certain temperature.
Please let us know when you start a page on Kickstarter! I would be glad to help out.
Hi Bishop, This is Cathy. I am 14 years old Korean student living in Beijing now. I have read your newsletter during the summer and I am writing this letter now. I saw the achievement you have done and I thought it was absolutely amazing. How did you able to make those creative and unique things? The adults were not able to deal with this problem for 20 years but when I saw you step out and found a solution, I wanted to support you so I began to write this letter. Your courage was really envious. It’s not easy to save people’s life but when you said you started this job I wanted to support you a lot. Your mind to safe people’s life is so beautiful. I will always cheer behind! 2017 11 19 Beijing Regards, Cathy
