My name is Claudette de la Haye, first female Caribbean American Journalist in Detroit/Midwest since, Marcus Garvey.

And how did this happen?  Caribbean American Journalism for women is horridly margialized. We don't get stipens, grants or fellowships through accademia and Caribbean American Media on all platforms in radio, cable, in print, online etc do NOT allow us to perform the following areas of excellance in; Collaborative Journalism for women, Investigative Journalism for Caribbean American Women, Science, Technology, Education, Wealth Management, Wellness, LGBT and
Socio Economics and Politics.

As a result there are no postive, strong images of Caribbean men and women for our children to look up to!

My mission is to creative not only positive images of our CaribbeanDiaspora , but to create a repository of our successes, chronicle contributions to American Society and to create a sustainable electronic database and webpage  for the consumption, participation and engage our community global foot print globally.

You will see my work at Scripps National Spelling Bee, North American International Auto Show (NAIAS) in Detroit. Specialty and one of-a-kind journalism that celebrates the impactful courage on a woman whom, cares very deeply about the preserving the integirty of her culture, community, legacy with the God given audacity to go far beyond CNN.

The funds raised will assit in equipment for photography and filming, documentary, investigations, travel and archiving the history of the Caribbean Diaspora in America.

The funds are required on an ongoing basis to ensure that there is inclusion documenting culture, fashion desing, philanthropy, business, finance and economis not to mention the up-keep of technology in archieving for prosperity.

This means the world to me because in a male donminiated industry it is more than just breaking the glass ceiling or breaking down stigmas and barriers. It means that I can create the fabric of our lives for as long as everyone chooses to cherrish those images that I create.

This not just about being thankful it's about the joy, talent and willingness to celebrate who we are as a people.

And, it is that notion of getting up every day and giving my collegues both at home and abroad a phenominal experience through writting, photography and having that intriguing interview that educates our young diaspora then, my life will have been so worth it all because, it is more often a thankless job.

It is truly a fabulous time in our lives to be awsome, powerful, engaging, innovative and just darn right egar to share who we are with the rest of world.

That is what definately keeps me thankful every blessed day especially for my grand nieces and grand nephews.
Giving up and giving is not an option - failure is not an option so, I can only dream of success because, that is all I will ever want to know.
