The Morris HS Girls Rugby team, a participant in the EGU High School Girls 7s Championship Series, will be competing in the HS Rugby National Championship in Seattle Washington, May 20-21, 2016.

The total cost for the club to take part is $25,000 (the travel party includes 25 players and four coaches/administrators). Each player will be asked to contribute $350 to the trip fees.

Following an extensive fund-raising effort, including a pot luck dinner, clothing drive, shaking cans at grocery stores, a car wash, and two grants, the girls have raised $10,000. They remain short of their ultimate goal.

In its commitment to Youth Rugby, Empire GU is encouraging EGU clubs and its membership to make donations (both big and small) to the Morris Girls through this campaign, with an ultimate goal of $1,000.

To supplement funds raised here, the EGU Board has approved a matching grant of up to $1,000, based on donations from EGU member clubs and athletes.

"The continued growth of youth rugby in our area is astounding, and the Empire GU has an excellent opportunity to help continue growing the game," said Ken Pape, EGU President. "This sounds like a win-win situation.  Good luck to Morris High School Girls."
