VOICE CHOICE : self-documentary, summer 2014
Combining my degree in filmmaking with my passion for sustainability to shed light on the positive changes taking place in the world today, and provide ways to be proactive with the knowledge (so we ALL can participate in this shift of humanity's evolution toward a symbiotic relationship with the Earth Mother).
I no longer define success in monetary value, which is why my main source of income is by serving tables during a season, instead of creating films for profit. That occupational choice is also to provide freedom during the rest of the year to film my passions--creating documentaries for myself rather than succumb to any soul-sucking productions of corporate America.
However, I do feel my current project, "COMMon UNITY," has film festival potential, especially if I can raise funds to upgrade my production equipment for a final product of higher quality--nicer than anything I've produced before. All of which can be found on my YouTube Channel .
Not generating much money works with my lifestyle of not needing much money. As you saw, my homebase of a schoolbus doesn't require any rent or utility bills. To produce this current project (and become more of a minimalist), I've moved into a smaller but mobile vehicle. As I travel across America with stored bulk food, home is where I park it; I'm fully encompassing the liberated presence of this way of living...of being.
'Be here now' has never felt so real to me. My spiritual endeavors have provided immense revelations during this current documentary excursion. I don't want to slow any of it down, the film production or life progression, and so your financial support will ensure I don't have to grow stagnant. Instead I will grow in authenticity and filmmaking proficiency: with more efficient equipment and nonstop experience.
The initial idea for funds needed was 15 thousand, which is why you hear me say that in the video; yet I've realized I don't want any more than what I need for the equipment. Sure, it'd be nice to have this campaign also cover my gas and groceries while traveling, but I do still have those expenses saved from serving tables in Florida this past winter. I'll need $10,000 to cover:
~$3,000 for an editing efficient MacBook Pro with warranty
~$500 for a Zoom microphone with case/accessories
~$6,000 for a cinematographer's camcorder with warranty and cases/changeable lenses
~$800 for campaign fees
