In Memory of Emily EvangilistaFlood
It's with a heavy heart I tell you that my dear sister Emily Evangilista Flood passed away on Monday, April 4.
Monday morning she told her husband Corey that she wasn't feeling well and thought she had the flu. He checked on her a couple times during the day but when he got home from work he found her unconcious on the kitchen floor.
The medical examiner told Corey it was from a burst blood vessel in her brain and couldn't have been prevented. This can happen to people who have high blood pressure but that wasn't the case with Emily so we're totally at a loss here.
Obviously this was unexpected and we're all devastated...still trying to comprehend everything...it is a huge shock.
Emily was born and raised in Santee, CA (which is east San Diego county) but has lived with her husband Corey in Virginia Beach for the past 8+ years. They loved visiting San Diego whenever they could, and dreamed of moving back here one day, but Emily loved being a hair stylist at Spa Phoenix and told me multiple times she can't see leaving her job.
There will be a memorial service on Saturday, April 9 at 3 PM at...
Bayside Chapel
1457 Independence Blvd.
Virginia Beach, VA 23455
Her San Diego family is flying to VA for the services and there are tremendous costs for this and all the funeral arrangments. Any funds raised will be used to off-set these costs for both Corey and her SD family. We seriously appreciate ANY help given and are so humbled by people's generosity already.
I will miss my little "seester" greatly but death cannot take away all the memories we've shared. I will never forget making up dances and performing our routines for the neighborhood when we were kids, sneaking her into my childhood room in the middle of the night & playing "steam roller" in my twin-sized bed, laughing so hard at dinner that other patrons asked us to leave our favorite Chinese restaurant, and leading worship with her for our church retreat and hearing hundreds of women sing out their praises to God. She was seriously one of the funniest people I knew and I know her joy and smile touched so many people.
Thank you so much for helping us remember my beautiful sister. Your support means the world to us!!
We also plan to have a memorial service in San Diego, after we return from VA, and will update you with details on that asap.
*Some of you may know that Emily & Corey were featured on an episode of HGTV's Beachfront Bargain Hunt. Season 6, Episode 8 "Hunting Virginia for a Vista" shows her fun demeanor if you want to check it out on Amazon.
