This is 18 month old Matches. He's a current foster in the Grassroots Animal Rescue foster program. Matches has been with us for a little over a year.
He's having some major urinary problems and needs your help!
A little background: Some cats can be prone to problems with their lower urinary tract. This can be especially dangerous for male cats because of their narrow urethra. Crystals can build up that can obstruct the flow of urine, and this obstruction can be deadly if the symptoms are not spotted quickly.
Matches was having problems peeing on Thursday, January 31, so his foster mom braved the subzero temperatures and whisked him to one of our magnificent vet partners.
Matches was discovered to have a blockage that was the size of a grain of rice which is pretty blocked as far as male cat urethras go! The blockage was cleared and they sent him home, only for him to experience another blockage on Saturday, February 2.
Since then, he has been at our vet for hospitalizations and observation, and his veterinarian determined that it would improve his quality of life significantly if he had surgery to have his urethra widened.

As you can imagine Matches is racking up quite a large medical bill.
Grassroots Animal Rescue is a tiny all-volunteer rescue trying to raise a goal of at least $2,500 to cover the cost of poor Matches' medical care. Every nickel you donate goes towards his care, and any leftover goes into the fund for the medical care of the other cats and kittens we rescue.
