The Refugee Women's Centre is in urgent need of support!

On 28 August the warehouse which we operate from in Grande Synthe was burnt down, and all the stock and storage space was destroyed. Local organisations, including the Women's Centre, rely on this stock to provide basic aid to the roughly 700 men, women and children still living outside in the Dunkirk area.

In order to be able to continue supporting the over 100 family units around the region, we need to replace our high-need items as fast as possible.  As the weather begins to turn, and police clearances increase, old and new families alike rely on the Women's Centre for shelter, bedding, clothes and hygiene items.

Please donate to help RWC re-stock our most needed items and continue supporting refugee families across northern France.

£20 buys a warm sleeping bag
£17 buys a tent
£15 buys a pack of 90 nappies
£5 buys a pair of women's leggings
£2 buys a 2 pack of dummies

Thank you for your continued support!

The Refugee Women's Centre is a women for women organisation based in Dunkirk, France. Our small team of volunteers provide daily psychosocial support, material aid and information services to women and family units living in informal refugee settlements across northern France.

We rely entirely on donated funds and goods to carry out our work and meet the needs of those we support. All money raised from this fundraiser will be spent on purchasing items that were lost in the warehouse fire, from bedding to clothing to activity material.

To all those who have donated money, sent messages of support and offered their solidarity and care, THANK YOU!

We have been overwhelmed by the show of generosity over the last weeks since our warehouse was burnt and stock destroyed. Material and monetary donations have come flooding in, allowing us to continue providing for the steady flow of new families arriving in the area. Large-scale evictions have, once again, left all those in the Grande Synthe area without any access to shelter or fixed living space. Our team's work is vital to meeting basic needs and maintaining people's dignity.

As the generous figure raised has exceeded our target of £30,000 that is needed to replenish winter stock and storage space, we aim to use anything beyond that amount to invest in longer term projects. Our aim as the Women's Centre is both to meet immediate needs and also to work towards long term solutions to welcoming and accommodating refugees along the French coastline.

Thank you, again, to all those who have shown their support. Your generosity and solidarity have allowed us to regenerate the work of the Women's Centre and support the journeys of the resilient people we work with.

RWC would like to extend an enormous thank you to all those who have shown their support so far. We have been overwhelmed by the messages of kindness and generosity, which are sustaining us through this difficult time. THANK YOU!

Calais support groups have already created a temporary storage space for us, where we will be re-stocking our emergency items.

In the meantime, people in the camps continue to rely on your generous support.
