31786040_1533080472804342_r.jpegOn Monday July 30, 2018, my grandparent's home went up in flames. They are fortunately safe, but their home was completely destroyed. Sadly, they did not have fire insurance on their home and have lost everything. Right now we are seeking financial support for short term housing to provide some consistency for them. While we try to help as a family, housing has been the greatest struggle.

Please consider donating to support our family in this time of need.

Originally this GoFundMe page was designated to just take care of my grandparents for a couple of weeks, but there has been such an outpouring of love on our family, we would like to extend it to help cover needs beyond this month.  We are beginning to realize how much will be involved and are so grateful for each of you and your willingness to help. We are so blessed to be surrounded by such amazing friends and family. Thank you for your support and prayers!

Update: Thank you again to everyone who has showed much love and kindness to our family. We are so blessed to be surrounded by people who are willing to donate and pray for Jerry & Dorlene Johncock and this fire situation. The money that has been raised so far has been used for providing short term consistent housing, starting the process of removing the destroyed house and materials, as well as replacing damaged items. We still have a long way to go, but we are so appreciative of everyone's support. God has provided and we are continuously amazed by the outpouring of love that we are receiving. Lord willing, the ultimate goal would be to be able to provide a new modular home - time and resources will reveal if this is possible. Please continue to pray for our family during this time, especially for guidance and open doors. We will continue to keep everyone updated and let you know if other needs arise. Thank you again for all the love and support that you have shown us through this hard time.

It has a been a long process, but Jerry & Dorlene's house is down! A super big THANK YOU again for the guys from Gun Lake Community Church who came out and helped tear it down, even in the sleet & rain! You are awesome!

Also, thank you to all of you for your donations and prayers. We could not be as far along as we are if it wasn't for your support.

Grandma Dorlene is now in a nursing home and doing very well and Grandpa Jerry is living with family. The hope is to someday to rebuild a home on this land - but we will see what the Lord has planned.

Thank you again! We are so appreciative of your kindness and could not do this without you!

Thank you everyone for your support. Your prayers and donations have helped us moved forward during this long process. The once beautiful home that was destroyed has been pretty much gutted out. Dumpster after dumpster has helped to clear out the debris.

If you drive past the home, you'll now see that the roof has collapsed. We have made lots of progress... but there is still lots of work to be done. This seems like the never ending project, but by the grace of God and with your support, we know it will all work out.

During this past weekend our family came together to celebrate - which is very much needed during tough times. Jerry ran another race, with his family at his side, and was awarded a tribute to his running career. A window from his destroyed home was salvaged and used to display his great running accomplishments in a piece called "Beauty for Ashes".

Thank you again for support! Please, continue to keep our family in your thoughts and prayers.

From Uncle Bill:
Happy 65th Anniversary Mom and Dad (Dorlene and Jerry Johncock)! 65 years is a long time to do anything. Get married, serve on the mission field, Pastor a church, raise 5 goofy boys, grandchildren, great grandchildren... Go back to school (Mom) and finish your GED, then your Bachelors and Masters degrees... start running at 50 (Dad) and run 118 marathons, set American records for Age Groups in the half marathon, 25K, marathon, 50K... and even survive a recent fire that destroyed their home. Mom now has dementia and Dad is 90 years old but Dad still went and bought Mom flowers yesterday. This picture was taken 5 years ago at their 60th Anniversary and if you look closely you'll notice they are still holding hands while putting up with their 5 crazy sons. An incredible example of sacrificial love for each other, for their family and most of all for Jesus Christ. Please say a prayer for them today as we continue to work through finding them safe housing and care in a challenging stage in their lives. And you can still give at the GoFundMe page set up by my niece Jessie Rodgers. God has been faithful to them and will continue to be as they will be to Him: https://www.gofundme.com/emergency-relief-for-grandparents

Just to keep everyone updated - with the money and support from all of you, we have been able to provide short-term housing for my grandpas and afford a dumpster to start cleaning out the house (we will probably have to get a couple to finish the job). We still have a long way to go, but we are so grateful for every step that takes us closer to rebuilding a home for Jerry and Dorlene Johncock. Thank you again for all your support and prayers.
