On April 6th, the science department at James Rutter Middle School was broken into, and destroyed in a two-alarm fire. Ellie Hanson is a dedicated teacher of 20 years, and tragically, her classrooom (f22) was a complete loss in the fire.
Ellie is dedicated to making her classroom a comfortable and safe learning environment. Among the things that were destroyed were
two bookshelves, a couch, a tabletop waterfall, an essential oil diffuser, character education posters, table-top bins, and lab setups. These are all things insurance likely will not cover since they were the things that Ellie bought with her own money, and are not considered "essentials" for learning.
The science department is to be torn down & rebuilt. While that is underway, Ellie will be working hard throughout the summer to prepare to make the new classroom a home for her students again.
As a teacher myself, I know how much love and money my fellow teachers put into their classrooms. Please join me in helping Ellie replace the items that were destroyed by this unfortunate event.
