My store Discoveries and the building I own where Discoveries is located were  destroyed by a devasting flood worse than I could even imagine possible. Also as a resident living in the same building, I am now without a home as well. In Discoveries, floors, walls, merchandise, fixtures, and displays have almost all vanished and collapsed in to the river. I have now lost almost everything I own and worked so hard for. I will have to pay for the masssive losses to the business. I am the property  owner also so I have the additional  financial burden to repair the building as well as my business and deal with the loss of my home. The mitigation  not done after a 2016 flood  should now hopefully move in to action. I will explore a temporary relocation for the business and temporarily relocate my home to live in a safe place until proper mitigation is done in town. My intent is to eventually return home to Ellicott City, the town I love,  after adequate mitigation is in place.  No matter what happens, short term and long term, every scenario will cause major hardship and expenses. I am heartbroken and recovery will require people's help and substantial financial assistance. Any amount will chip away and ultimately help me professionally and personally recover and get back onto my feet. My whole life's savings went into that building and 38 years of my blood, sweat and tears went into creating and running the Discoveries business that I love so dearly.  With your help, I will find my way through this disaster which took from me everything I own, love and cherish.

Thanks in advance for your kindness and generosity.

So sad to see this image, knowing that everything was swept in to the river in that vast empty space that used to be my store so filled with the most amazing crafts. There's so little left. This photo is not after clean up, it is a look at what the flood took with it. I will try to temporarily relocate the business and for now I am forced to live elsewhere while I wait for proper mitigation to the town first. Any way I look at it, hardship, both personally and financially, are ahead of me for the short and long term. My heart is so broken to even look at what this flood did to my business and property. I can barely handle the grief, of knowing what this flood has taken from my life.

Discoveries is damaged beyond my ability to ever have expected. Floors and walls and almost everything is literally just gone. Looking in to a once beautiful gallery, instead of incredible crafts you look straight down in to the Tiber instead. Every county official has expressed their sadness and horror at the level of flood damage to my store specifically. I am also stunned every time I see what a rough and expensive road lies ahead but I will do whatever it takes to somehow crawl out of this mess. Thanks and love to all.
