Mintie White  WATSONVILLE, CA
My name is Vicki Hallof and I am the principal of Mintie White Elementary School. On Sunday, March 19th we lost a valuable member of our school.  Elizabeth Yaxtel Garcia Tapia, a Second Grader, died tragically along with her father.
Elizabeth was a kind and caring student who loved to learn, and was always there for her friends. She enjoyed school and looked forward to recess where she could talk with her friends. She was a bright ray of sunshine at our school. We will miss her sweet smile and great laugh. Elizabeth Yaxtel is survived by two other siblings, her mother, and many members of her extended family.   If you do not have a credit card you are welcome to come to bring your money to the school and we will deposit in the GoFund me account.
The money will be given to Elizabeth's mother to support the family's expenses and helping them to take care of the two remaining siblings. Mintie White will make sure that the family receives the money directly.
Please help us to support this family in their time of grief.  Our thoughts and prayers are with the Tapia family at this time. The great and mighty eagles will be there for your family and offer the wind the Tapia family needs to rise above this terrible tragedy.

Thank you all for your support of the Garcia Tapia family. We will be having a Celebration of Life on Wednesday, March 29th at 3:00 here at Mintie White. Weather permitting it will be held outside. If not, it will be cozy but we will hold it in our cafeteria. We will continue to campaign for funds to support this family after the Celebration of Life. Our theme for this event is "You are our sunshine" as Elizabeth brought sunshine and laughter into the hearts of many. Thank you again on behalf of the Garcia-Tapia family and all of the students and staff of Mintie White Elementary. We are all healing and leaning on each other to move forward with Elizabeth in our hearts.

There have been some questions as to whether or not this was legitimate. I am the principal of Mintie White and we set up this account to support the family on behalf of the students and families of Mintie White. The family also has a GoFundMe account as well. This family has lost a child and her father in a tragic event. They need us all to rally around as a community and support them. They don't need negative comments or judgements at this time. They need support, love and compassion. Please do not post curse words or inappropriate comments as my students are reading these comments. If you have any questions feel free to call the school. Thank you!

I can confirm that the account was made on behalf of the school by the principal. There are two gofundme accounts set up at the moment. I know that this school has a lot of love for all their families and is showing their support through this page.
