This is an urgent appeal to keep Ms. Nicholson, one of our 4th grade homeroom and Science teachers, and prevent her from being re-assigned to another school. Donate now!
Due to inadequate funding by the Oklahoma state legislature, Tulsa Public Schools was forced to “re-balance” it’s teachers, and determined that Eliot is to lose a teacher at the 4th grade level. We can keep Ms. Nicholson at Eliot by raising funds to pay her salary and benefits of $38,877. By keeping Ms. Nicholson, we will not only retain a valued teacher, but also maintain class sizes near 20 instead of close to 30.
This situation impacts all of Eliot, not just the 4th grade students and families. As you can imagine, overcrowded classrooms and overwhelmed teachers create a difficult learning environment. Eliot's exceptional teachers, high-test scores and low classroom sizes are some of the most attractive benefits of attending Eliot. Eliot has always been considered one of the most desirable neighborhood schools in Tulsa. Reasonable class sizes and teachers like Ms. Nicholson are essential to this reputation.
Please donate before Thursday 9/17 at 3:00p. We must inform TPS of the funding by 4:00p Thursday.
Your donation is tax deductible and will go to the Eliot Elementary Foundation, which is a 501(c)(3) charitable foundation with the stated purpose to support and enhance the education, training and student life of Eliot Elementary School. The Foundation Board has committed to use all donations from this appeal to fund Ms. Nicholson and enable her to stay at Eliot. If we fall short of the $38,877 needed, the Foundation Board has already voted to divert funds from future projects in order to ensure that the goal is met. If there are excess donations over the goal, those funds will enable the Foundation to fund additional projects.
