Elgin VFW Post 1307

My name is Nick Harrington and I am the Sr. Vice Commander of the Elgin VFW Post 1307.  I am coming to you all today in hopes to raise enough money to keep our facility open as we have come upon hard financial times. Our Post serves the Elgin community and its Veterans. We have been a post in Elgin for nearly 90 years and have been located on Weld Rd. since the early 1980s. Our building is in dire need of some repairs (roof, parking lot, 3 HVAC units, ect.) but we have not been able to sustain the proper income to make the repairs needed for our facility.  We have been bandaiding the problem for the last few years, but the time has come where we need to fix the actual problems. This is a home to many Veterans in the area that have served in the various wars our country has faced.  It is a community of brothers and sisters, along with their families, that are here to serve other Veterans and their families in any capacity we can assist in. Our total repairs are going to cost upwards of $250,000 with the majority of that being a complete rework of our parking lot. Our immediate needs (the roof and the HVAC systems) are closer to $50,000. I am starting this campaign off at $20,000 though in hopes to at least bring some revenue in to start these repairs and while continuing to work towards the rest.
