Help Scholar get to the Conference!

Hello Friends,

My name is Neil Thompson, I am a recent electrical engineering technology graduate from New Brunswick, Canada who was a winner of the Thunderbolts Project, Electric Universe Conference Scholarship for 2015 for my work 'As History has Shown'  that I wrote during my studies, and I am in need of help.

For years I have been working, like many others, towards a more cohesive and simple way of understanding the world and her history with a new and refreshing look. I even went to school again at the age of 40 to learn what I was talking about; and learning calculus for the first time at middle age can be humbling. Most people have not been so fortunate to find a goal with meaning that has such an ability to help others and the world. It motivates you to do more, and to try harder.

This year, the conference is coming up and in recent months, I was laid off from my job as a cabling technician. 'Second' jobs are understandably required in this kind of field, where sponsorship always goes to those who study the Earth with the conventional outlook, and understandably so.

Not only would I like to attend this years conference and use it as a platform to present my work on planetary construction, but after some time being without work and unable to find a job, I am living by the good graces of friends and family as I struggle through this incredibly tough time.

I will be honest, I need help. It hurts my pride to ask, but if I want to succeed at my dream of presenting I need to be able to attend, and indeed survive until I find work. If you are looking for a technologist, I will also take sponsorship in the form of a job, I can do both, but it certainly slows your writing, but one surivives first, and  contributions to the future are the benefits of that survival.

If I am provided with sponsorship over and above my immediate need to save myself from destitution, I will use the money attend this years conference, and should my work and presentability be deemed worthy, I will hopefully be able to present. If not this year, I will at least be able to do it next. As you can imagine, I cannot present if I cannot be 'present'. The more I have sponsorship, the more I can do. Obviously if you are trying to find work, that has to come first.

The conference this year is in Phoenix, Arizona, June 17 - 19th, and if it was practical I would drive the distance. While there I wish to explore some of the land and areas around the city, out in the desert. Where I come from the land is covered in trees for as far as the eye can see, and there is no desert, but there, you can see what the late Michael Steinbacher was talking about in his video:
Actually, to be honest I've never seen mountains at all. At least not anywhere close. Now, taking his work to the next logical level, what would this tell us able the formation of planets and the types of forces they were subjected to in the past?  Just by looking at those formations through my own eyes would be breathtaking, educational and inspiring.  I have never been so blessed.

I am sincerely thankful for anything you can do. It means so much to have people who care.  I am fighting to keep what precious little remains of my life while still trying to look towards the future and to help in some meaningful way. Where I live is not a big city, I am applying everywhere I can, and I am not too proud to work beneath my education level, so that is not my problem. I work on my passions in my spare time, as one can only do, but everyone dreams of being able to be sponsored and to make a difference in the world. I am embarassed to feel myself begging on one hand, and on the other, blessed to have a chance to possibly do something that could change the way we see ourselves and our place in the universe.

 If only philosophy paid more.

My current situation is sadly thus; I am behind on my car payments, my insurance and my credit cards are over their limit and behind. And just in time, Student Loan's have come due. I believe I can delay those for a few months under the program, but still, it does not look good. Putting minutes on my phone is tight and food and housing comes from a good friend. My former employer convinced me to wait until business picked back up after the holidays. So, stupidly I trusted them and my savings were gone and I was surprised to be let go at the beginning of February.  I don't even have enough hours to qualify for Employment Insurance.

I would normally be months ahead on my job search if I had at least some forwarning, and I was indeed made promises that turned out to be less than certain. Now, as it stands, I have nothing at the moment. I know that in the immediate future, I have interviews, but there is still no guarantee they will pan out and and even if one does, the chances of me being able to afford to attend lessen each day, and costs, conversely go up as the date approaches. There is airfare ($700-1000?), food ($250?), hotel ($500-1000?), conference ($300-500cnd), rental car ($500) and likely numerous incidentals. Plus, of course, the cost of continued living until the conference itself ($750-1000 per month for just bills, plus food, just so I don't feel like a burden to the friend who is keeping me housed). I don't go out much, I try and keep in to save money. If I don't find a job I will have more time to write and work and as you can imagine, but losing everything you have left is not going to be a satisfying reward.

I will take anything to survive, but if by some miracle, someone out there believes in me and wants to see what I can do in the future, this will at least get me through 6 months. After that, I would give anything to be working for someone who appreciated big thinking people who are motivated problem solvers. But likely, I will be working for someone just to survive and doing my real work on the side. As I suspect it is with many...

If you can help, I would not be to proud. I need it. I know it and it hurts to admit. If I get more than what I need, I know I will make you proud and will pay it forward, hopefully to all of our benefit.

Sincerely,

Neil
