Eisenman Family Fire Recovery Fund

$50,751 of $50,000 goal

Raised by 469 people in 7 months
The Eisenman family's home has been destroyed in conjunction with an explosion that came from their neighbor's house on Monday July 24th. Cody, Marisa and their two girls' home was first impacted by the blast and then it subsequently caught on fire. Fortunately everyone in the family was unhurt. Marisa was home at the time, but somehow walked out unscathed.  She was laying down in the bed against the north wall when the explosion occurred. The window above her head and some of the surrounding wall blew out all around her and debris from the ceiling came down on top of her. She was able to get up out of the room and exit the front door where she saw that the house on the north side was in rubble. The children (ages 6 and 9) were not present, they were at camp and not home at the time. Unfortunately they did lose their pet cat in the fire.

At this point it looks like most all of their belongings were lost in the fire.  All clothes and furniture were heavily burned or suffered severe smoke damage.  We are still hoping that they will be able to salvage photos and other personal mementos.

The family is currently checked into a hotel and everyone is safe and sound.  From there it opens up, they are getting help from the insurance company to identify a rental for the next six to ten months and will begin rebuilding their home.

To add more to the story, Marisa was diagnosed with a form of Leukemia in March of 2014.  She underwent multiple iterations of chemotherapy to get it under control and then ultimately had a stem cell bone marrow transplant in December of the same year.  She is currently in remission which is good, but is battling graft vs host ailments and remains on heavy medication (immune suppressants and steroids) to combat it.

The family continues to have a very positive attitude and is reaching out to the community for any help that they can bestow.  At this point the family is held up in an apartment, and doesn’t have room for many things.  Please consider donating to their fund if you can afford it.  Thank you very much for reading this.

First and foremost, our family would like to thank everyone who has supported us through donations and kind words. We are truly blown away by the generosity of our family, friends, coworkers, neighbors and community. These events could have been so much worse and we feel very lucky to be where we are today.

As far as an update goes, there hasn’t been too much that has transpired on our home front. We’ve been busy working through the slow process of belonging itemization, working through asbestos abatement and salvageable item removal. We are planning to rebuild our home at the same location.

Marisa is doing better. Coming out of her bronchoscopy procedure she developed pneumonia, but has taken antibiotics and is on the mend.

There are only a few days left of our gofundme page and we’ve almost reached our goal thanks to you. If you have a chance, please post and share over the next couple of days.

Again, thank you for your love and support. It means a lot to us.

Thank you again to everyone who has taken time to read our story, donate to our cause, send supportive messages and sharing our story with their friends. We are amazed by the love and support.

We would like provide an update about Marisa’s health condition (all of which is unrelated to the home explosion). As mentioned in the initial page, Marisa is still battling GVHD (graft vs host disease) due to her transplant. She had a bronchoscopy on Thursday, July 27th to help understand a persistent cough and pain in her rib area that she has experienced for the last several months. During the procedure, her lung was punctured while the doctor was obtaining a biopsy. This collapsed her lung and forced her to be admitted to the hospital, where she stayed for two nights. She was discharged from the hospital and able to join her family again on Saturday, July 29th, but is currently dealing with quite a bit of pain.

Thank you for reading this. Please continue to share our story. We will keep you updated when we can.
