Carolyn's Stroke Recovery Fund
Donation protected
Carolyn suffered a severe stroke on April 13th, 2015. She was hospitalized for 2 months. She then underwent 100 days of inpatient rehabilitation to address mobility and everyday issues of self-care. She is now home to continue her recovery which continues at a consistent rate.
Medicare and private supplemental insurance has covered most of her medical costs to date. Caregiving costs have been out-of-pocket along with prescription costs, home modifications, & some rehabilitation costs. Darwin, her husband, will be able to provide about 65-70% of the coverage needed for her homecare. Certified Nursing Assistants (CNAs) will be needed for the rest of her care. Medicaid has been denied because of some equity in our home but a home equity loan has diminished the equity down to next-to-nothing.
Carolyn is determined to resume her painting and hopes to become more self-sufficient as she gets stronger. Her health has stabilized in the last 6 months so there are encouraging signs for functional improvement.
We ask only for small contributions to get through these challenging times and to pass on this information to others. We thank those that have been able to contribute to her recovery.
Carolyn still has many paintings in her inventory and we would be happy to part with these pieces of art--she has landscapes, figurative paintings, and abstract paintings based on music. We will sell these beautiful paintings at very reasonable prices so feel free to contact us and we will provide images in the areas you are interested in.
We hope this message finds everyone doing very well.
Thank You--Our Warmest Thoughts--Carolyn and Darwin.
