Shouldn't all children have a proper education?
At Prey Sbat, a poor, rural village in Southern Cambodia, many of the children live in poverty and have suffered abuse. Good people have grown up without education or work experience, so their low quality of life continues generation after generation.
It wasn't until 5 months ago, where Mr. Kim, a dedicated local, decided to stop the cycle and start an English and Khmer (the language of Cambodia) school out of his own family home. Mr. Kim had previously worked for many NGO's, and started several projects of his own; two of which are flourishing and have been passed down to trusted leaders.
He teaches the children how to speak, read, and write in English and Khmer, as well as introduce them to basic math, science, and technology. He teaches the villagers about proper farming so they can have more food throughout the year. He provides a safe space for children to play, and sports equipment for them to share. The children here look forward to going to school and the community gives Mr. Kim their full support.
His goal is to build a school and education center in Prey Sbat to provide proper education and training for the locals. Early donations will be used for what is needed immediately: notebooks, pencils, pens, chairs and tables. Later donations will be used for tools, building materials, and local labor to start building a simple classroom.
