Edinburgh March for Science

Donation protected
The Edinburgh March for Science is part of a growing international movement that celebrates the importance and value of science in everyday society. On Saturday, 22 April we unite as a nonpartisan group to support and champion both science as a common good and policymakers that use facts and evidence to develop policies in the best interest of the public.

This family friendly event will celebrate science as a vital part of everyone's lives whilst also highlighting some of the challenges facing the scientific community.  Marchers are invited to wear green, bring a sign, and help make this a celebration as much as a protest.

Everyone involved in organising, supporting and speaking at the march is giving their time and skills for free.  There are however essential costs of the march that must be covered.  This GoFundMe page serves as a secure place for both Crowd Funding and Official Donations.

Costs include:
PA, Tech Equipment £100
First Aid Support £37.97
Public Liability Insurance £416.25
High Visibility Tabards for Stewards £48
Poster and Badge Printing £200-400
Website £12

Should any funds remain, they will be donated to local science education programmes.

The march will begin at Waterloo Place just east of North Bridge at 1:30pm and end at the Scottish Parliament with a handful of speeches from prominent champions of science in Scotland.
