Donation protected
UPDATE 11/25/18:
Mr. Bauer has now reached his credit card limit and can no longer afford to buy food.  He only receives $30 a month in food stamps.  They will soon cut off his electricity and his telephone.  Please help.  We are desperate.
Thank you so much.
Mr. Bauer’s caregivers
-----
Mr. Edward Bauer was born with ALS-4.  It is hereditary and slowly progressive.  He struggled with walking until he was 57, when he resigned himself to life in a wheelchair.  At 66 he became bed-bound and needed caregivers around-the-clock.  He did without his entire life to save for retirement.  But two years of medical expenses have cost him his life savings.  He needs your help.

Ed depends on his caregivers and your help.

This version of ALS is a genetically-transmitted neuropathy that results in a gradual, lifelong deterioration of the muscles, most pronounced in the extremities (the arms and legs).  His mother was afflicted as was her mother.  One-by-one, Ed finds himself unable to perform daily tasks he had depended on, such as preparing meals and personal hygiene.  He is becoming almost completely dependent on his dedicated caregivers and the generosity of others.  Yet in spite of his struggles, Edward tries to maintain his sense of humor.

As a young adult, he spent years doing volunteer work reading books, magazines and newspapers for the blind and print-handicapped so he deeply appreciates volunteer services such as Meals on Wheels.

Mr. Bauer’s hard-earned life savings are now completely gone. He cannot get by on Social Security Disability. His medical expenses are overwhelming and are not covered by Medicare. Now, he desperately needs the help of caring, giving hearts.

Your helping hand is critical in deciding whether Ed wins or loses his battle against ALS.    He is extremely grateful for any support you can give.  With your help and God’s, we can do this.

 Thank you very much.

Edward’s last time outdoors, other than medical appointments.  May 15, 2012.
