My name is Flint Kelley and I am the partner and best friend of Bubbles, a wonderful and sweet Labrador retriever mix who has been with me and supported me as a service dog and an emotional support animal (ESA) for all of my teenage life. I am moving to the east coast from California next month on the 5th of February and I have allocated just enough funds to cover the flight and barely move the essentials with me. I'm moving to the east coast in hopes of attending the Rhode Island School of Design. While that was all good and fine, I’ve been told just a few days ago that unfortunately the family members who were going to care for her and hold onto her until I am able to pay to ship her over to where I am going to be living, will not be able to take her.
This is a heartbreaking situation as I have spent days calling and emailing various services and checking all sorts of options and I am split between the idea of taking my dog, or taking my essential belongings and art supplies to make a living with. So as a last resort I’ve turned to gofundme in the hopes of raising the money needed to ship Bubbles off before I leave on the 5th. Bubbles has served as a national service dog for much of our time (just recently retired from this role) and is still an active ESA, she is a beloved part of my life and I am horrified that if I am not able to ship her with me, she will almost surely be put into a pound.
The $650 goal is to cover the esitmated cost of buying a carrier kennel suitable for Bubbles, and the cost to send her via a pet cargo flight.
All funds raised will be put towards moving her safely across the country to the east coast, if there are any extra funds, I will donate them to the ASPCA as soon as she is safely moved. Once again, I will be leaving for the east coast on the 5th and I hope to send her by then.
Every little bit will help towards managing to send my dog with me and to safety, it’s been a scary few days and it will only continue unless this can be helped. She is supporting me even now as I worry if for her and the moving and flight I will have to go through in the upcoming future. Any and all donations will sincerely help both the life of a wonderful dog and my own future. Thank you so much for your time.
