31692882_1532759576206829_r.jpegOn 7/26 the Carr fire ravaged Redding ca. Many people have lost their homes. Ed was not under evacuation and was in the middle of preparing, getting supplies when the fire struck his home. His wife and two great grand children were home. we are still urgently seeking the 3 family members that are missing and last seen at the home. Ed and family have absolutely nothing left, only the clothes on his back. we refuse to think the worst, but a man like Ed doesn't deserve this. Ed and his wife have been caring for the children for years and we pray that we find them and hopefully help them rebuild.

He was renting his home and does not have insurance. Any bit helps.
Thank you so much

**Update**
With a heavy heart we are sad to inform you all that Mel and the great grand babies were confirmed to be in the home. Ed has lost everything important to him.  His whole world has been ripped away from him. Anything at all is greatly appreciated! Please help if you are able

Happy Saturday
i forgot to mention in the previous update that Grandpa is currently staying in a 2 bedroom mobile with Gary and his 14 year old son Justin. Gary has been an extended family member for as long as i can remember. Gary is a vet and lived next door to grandpa and grandma for about 10 years. Gary and Justin lost their home as well. so for emergency shelter and until we find them permanent housing we have them set up with their own place so they can be comfortable and have some privacy. Our goal is to purchase a property where Grandpa can spend the rest of his life tinkering around his shop and garden but fire now he has a place to call home

Good morning and thank you to all for your continued love and support. I am Amanda Woodley Ed Bledsoe's granddaughter and i wanted to take a minute to update everyone.
We had the services on August 25th and we really struggled with the decision to have it open to the public or not and we chose a private service with the understanding that we would hold a vigil for all the lost lives from the Carr fire when the fire was out. This allowed us to grieve privately with our family but also give us the opportunity to grieve with our community.

We have a page on Facebook called Shasta JEM you can like this page and keep updated on what is happening.

We are in the process of creating a trust account for Grandpa so that the money can go into the trust account to meet his needs but does not interfere with his medical benefits. While we wait for this account to get set up the funds are going into my account so i can pay any bills or purchase anything Grandpa might need. We paid for the memorial services this week and Grandpa put a down payment on a van He has been wanting. He is very excited about his new van and the fact it is blowing cold air from the dash

A few things we well be doing to honor or loved ones are as follows:

We will be working with John Dix owner of From the Hearth to build the CARR Fire memorial for all the victims of the fire and a place for all the survivors to go and build eachother up and encourage eachother

The Roberts college fund has been created by the children's uncle to help children go to college since our little angels did not get an opportunity. You can go to any Tri Counties Bank and donate to the Pedro GTP Relief fund and on the memo line write Roberts Scholarship

The Shasta JEM Foundation is in the beginning stages. This foundation will help grandparents and others who are raising nonbiological children. We will be starting a support group and funds to help with basic needs. This allows us an opportunity to help emotionally and financially support members in our community. The funds will come from specific donations and fundraisers.

Please stay up to date at our Facebook page for the upcoming vigil and thank you again for all your love and support our family would not be able to make it through this tragedy with out our beloved community and people around the world. There is so much power and strength in Unity and we are blessed by all the love we have received. Please continue to pray it is helping more than you could imagine

Blessings
Amanda Woodley

***Update***
There have been a lot of people asking for an update so here is a brief one. Ed is doing as well as can be expected. He has an unbelievable amount of strength to persevere through almost anything. He has stayed close to good friends and family the last week, and we all plan to keep it like that. As far as his reaction to the community, he is absolutely amazed with all the things that everyone has done. It has been an extremely busy time but I will personally be thanking everyone after things calm down. Ed will stop in awe of all the things that people are doing for him. From the kind strangers walking down the street to each and every donor who has given to try and bring this man the comforts that we can. It truly means the world to him. With all the positivity that he has shown others his entire life he is finally seeing it shown to him, and I believe its one of the things pulling him through each and every hour of every day right now. Thank you all, sorry for things being so busy, we will try to keep you more informed, and god bless.

Additionally, Ed doesn't have any social media. Ed's son is his JR. and has a Facebook. Sorry if that caused confusion.

I never believed we would reach this goal so quickly. When I started the campaign it was to get Ed and his family the things they needed to begin rebuilding. He has lost so much more than thought since then. I would love to keep raising as much money as possible to help give Ed the best quality of life we can. I cant do anything to undo what has happened. But this amazing community, these incredible donors, all the kind words, they can help Ed survive this, and rebuild what he can. I thank you all, we love you all, god bless.
