The small town of Eastpoint, Florida in Franklin County has suffered a devastating loss. Over 30 homes, possibly as high as 60 as of last count, have lost everything they own. An estimated two hundred people are now displaced as a result of this tragedy, and many without insurance. The widespread fire was rapidly moving, allowing residents only moments to escape with their lives. The incident began around 5:30 - 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 25th. Many are awakening this morning to the reality of no home, no clothes, and an unknown future. Eastpoint and Franklin County is resilient, and are known for helping others in need. This time, it is the victims of this devastating fire that is in desperate need. Red Cross is on scene assisting victims. But, this is so widespread, we are asking for funds to assist the many displaced members of our community. Any donation, large or small, will directly benefit and go to the victims. The Franklin County Sheriff's Office is administering this fund. On behalf of the victims of this horrendous fire, we thank you for your support, prayers and generosity!
Thank you so much! We are appreciative of every donation. Many of the victims are still in shock and disbelief and are still processing the situation. The outpouring of support for our little town has been amazing and we feel so blessed in the midst of such tragedy. We are so fortunate to have so many compassionate people reach out to us. Red Cross, area Churches, volunteers and organizations are on hand to assist with immediate needs. We are hoping to raise enough funds to help with long term efforts, such as housing. Many of these people did not have insurance and have lost everything. We are working hard to help secure housing for these families. We have successfully secured housing for seven different families/individuals at this time. We know it will take time and patience, but we are willing to do what we can to assist. We are truly grateful!
