Eastern Shore College Tour

Our chaperones from last year's College Tour stand by the Edmund M. Cameron Statue outside of Duke's Basketball Stadium also known as Cameron Indoor.

The Extraordinary League of Gentlemen (ELOG), Fireflies of Denton, and the Bayside Hoyas is hosting their second College Tour in March 2018 and we need your assistance to take 12 young black boys from the Eastern Shore of MD to visit Johnson C. Smith University and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Then we will spend the weekend enjoying the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) Basketball Tournament in Charlotte, NC.

The CIAA tournament is the third largest behind the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) and Big Ten Conference amongst all National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) basketball tournaments. Moreover, the CIAA tournament is also one of a handful of basketball tournaments in the nation that features men and women competition in the same facility, during the same week.

This amazing opportunity to visit these prestigious higher learning institutions, along with the CIAA Basketball tournament will offer these young men insight into what it feels like to be enrolled in college and life as a student-athlete. Additionally, by exposing them to college now through this tour they will realize that going to college is not a pipedream but a real possibility with hard work, dedication, and sacrifice. We believe this life-changing experience will serve as motivation when times get tough in their lives and they will find the drive to never give up on their dreams.

We estimate it will cost approximately $300 per person. This cost will include the price of hotel, rental vehicle, gas, food, and admission into the CIAA tournament which is approximately $85.

I hope you will consider making a donation to enable us to fund the entire cost of the trip for all of these high school students. Your donation, regardless of size will help us to make this trip an experience that these students will never forget.

Last year, we hosted a similar College Tour and it was an overwhelming success. We went to Duke University & North Carolina A&T. We anticipate this trip being even bigger and better and our plan is to continue to take high school students to various colleges and universities every year.
