Overview
Have you ever wondered what it would be like to live and work in a space colony? Whether it was on the Moon, Mars or a distant planet outside our own solar system? Everyone has dreamed about it but the dream seams so far away....Well....let's turn this dream into a reality! Here's your opportunity to be part of this!
Earth Colony One Project is the answer...this research project will help in developing the necessary tools, equipment and knowledge in building an off world colony. The colony itself will have living and working quarters, bio-domes, a spaceport and air/waste management facilities, working with robotic equipment, exo-suits and vehicles.
This would include simulating the first expeditionary force, landing on another world. They would be able to explore the planet by using manned and unmanned vehicles and start laying down the foundations of a new colony. The planet that we will be simulating is a Desert Planet with Earth Type Gravity but the atmosphere will be about half the pressure as the Earth. So all work will be performed in environmental suits.
But this is a Billion-Plus Dollar research project...which would employ hundreds of workers and thousands of hours of research and development. But even this project, which is large and complex...needs to take its first steps.
Phase One
This is its first step...Phase One of this project is too develop the necessary methods and equipment to send the first settlers to a new world. I'm trying to raise five-million dollars to get the intal start up for this project. And to keep the costs down, we'll be using off-the-shelf parts but some stuff would be custom fabricated. Also this will be done out in the state of Nevada, because of the terrain will be similar to what you would on either the Moon or Mars. Plus Nevada has a low operation cost to do business in.
The goals for Phase One as follows:
1. Setup base of operations in Nevada. This would include getting a building, acquiring some basic tools and equipment and hiring some personal.
2. Start designing, engineering and rendering of the colony base and support equipment.
3. Travel to conventions and trade shows to get donors and sponsors for the project. Bring in other companies can help out on the costs and testing.
4. Prototype the proof-of-concept Hybrid Space/Jet engine, for the Orbital Drop Ship.
5. Prototype the Module Utility Vehicle (MUV). The MUV will be the backbone for the exploration and construction of the colony. It can be either manned or unmanned depending on the situation. Its array of modules that can be attached to the base vehicle will allow it to do multiple tasks like planetary exploration, construction and mining.
6. Another critical piece of equipment that needs to be developed is the Environmental Utility Suit. This suit not only have to deal with working outside the colony but with any situations that happens inside the colony. But also be very flexible to the person who wears it and keep the person safe.
7. Setup a website, so you can follow our progress and find out about events that we would be attending or having.
Phase One should be completed in roughly 3-5 years pending on funding and/or any unforeseeable problems. We need too start making this now! So when we do start to travel into the universe, we will be ready.
Preview of other Phases...
Ok...I maybe jumping the gun here but I want to give you a preview of the upcoming Phases of this project.
Note: Until Phase One is complete, the other Phases costs are just estimates.
Phase Two (TBD)
This Phase of the project would be the preparations and execution for sending the first expeditionary force to another planet. So this would include the construction of a working Orbital Drop Ship with the
(production)Hybrid Space/Jet engines, acquire property for the Colony Site/ Head Quarters and Fabrication/Assemble Buildings, the construction of the modules for the MUV and hiring more personal.
Estimate funding for this phase would be about $100-125 million dollars.
Phase Three (TBD)
Ok...this is the final phase of the project! This is the actual building of the colony itself. This is where we take the lessons learned from the first two phases and apply it here. This is also the bulk of the costs come into play...
The cost will be over a Billion dollars for this final phase. You have to consider that this colony will be holding 200-500 people, who will be living and working for a period of six months. Running test, emergency drills, simulated planetary explorations, while making the colony self-sufficient when need be.
Final
This project will help and prepare the future generation for their step off into the unknown of space.
