Eagles Chasing Nationals 2017
$33,185 of $30k goal
As of 6:00pm on Jan 6,2017 we hit our goal to send every child on our team to Nationals in Disney of $30,000. We cannot Thank you enough! We are still accepting donations to help buy uniforms, sneakers, bows, bags, cheer make up, competitions in the spring, Tumbling gyms, space for practice, transportation and summer camps. We feel we need to keep the program alive now that it is so strong and give these kids a way to focus their energy in a positive and fulfilling way. We still are accepting donations and will eventually close this campaign on Monday Jan 10th and open a new one for anyone that would like to donate to the program. All money will roll over into The Metropolitan Soundview High School's account located in the James Monroe Building and will be given to the Cheerleading Team when they need it. The new fundraising campaign will have the hashtag /eagleschasingdreams
THANK YOU SO MUCH ON BEHALF OF THE COACHES AND THE TEAM!
WE ARE BEYOND GRATEFUL! <3
We come from a place where opportunities rarely come but we developed a community that supports each others goals. Our cheerleaders stay after school 3-4 days a week for up to three hours a day. They are beyond dedicated and love to be apart of something that brings them so much joy. Our whole team also excels in academics, having at least a 85 average or better, apart of student council, national honor society and programs that give college credit in high school.
Unfortunately, many of our children come from homes that cannot support their child's after school program. Not that they don't want to, they just don't have the means to. Our school is also located in a high-needs area and rarely receives extra money to support the programs we put together to better our school's community. We hope to bring our teams dream to life by sending them to Nationals in Orlando Florida in 2017. The James Monroe Eagles have won 1st place at the Six Flags Cheer Fest TWO YEARS IN A ROW! If that doesn't scream how dedicated these kids are, I don't know what else will. With the donation, we hope to buy each child's transportation, hotel stay and ticket as well as food, snacks and sneakers. A huge portion of the proceeds will send our cheerleaders to cheer camp that is conducted by the UCA. It is a huge expense that our school cannot pay for and is needed to qualify for Regionals in order to get the bid for Nationals.
We are asking for the worlds help because somewhere, out there, there has to be someone that can relate to starting out with absolutely nothing and end up growing flowers through concrete cracks. We just need someone to help sprinkle a bit more water so we can really bloom.
Thank you so much for helping us turn our dreams into a reality!

It is fair that you all that are donating know who each person is, where the money is going and any other details that involve our cause to help these kids:
1. Who are we and Where we are from?
We are the James Monroe Eagle Cheerleading team located at the James Monroe High School at 1300 Boynton Avenue in the Bronx. Our campus consists of five schools. The coaches: Edwin Frias (Parent Coordinator), Sonja Williams (Guidance Counselor) and Cheriece White (Multimedia Art Teacher) belong to The Metropolitan Soundview High School which is located in th James Monroe Building. The Cheerleaders belong to different schools located within this building but are predominately from The Metropolitan Soundview High School.
2. Your relationship to the parties you're raising funds for and how the funds will be used?
We are raising the funds for our team to go to the UCA Nationals in Orlando Florida. All of the money will go to this trip and if we are gifted than more the amount we have set for them, it will go to develop the program and insure its financial survival which would include future competitions, gear, training camps, gyms and sneakers.
The trip itself, for each child includes round-trip airfare from NYC to Orlando, 4 day/ 3 night accommodations at Disney's All Star Resort, transportation to and from airports as well as all UCA events, 4 day park hopper pass, all meals and beverages for their entire stay. This costs about 1100-1200 each child. We have 28 team members total.
3. If you intend to withdraw the money, how you plan to send the funds to the parties you're raising money for or use the money on their behalf.
Coach Edwin Frias has been a cheer coach for 11 years. He is named the beneficiary for this campaign on behalf of the children and has been keeping tabs of all donations with us. All accommodations and payment will be sent to Varsity Spirit. If we raise enough to cover additional cheer apparel, we plan to use Park View, which is our preferred vendor.
To everyone so far that has believed in us and these kids, on behalf of Coah Eddie, Coach Williams and myself.. Thank you so very much. If you could only see the twinkle in their eyes when we tell them that there are people in the world that do really care ♥
YAY! I'm so happy for y'all! I know what it's like competing in the NCA Camp, and the excitement of making it to Regionals, and then the Finals. In my day, the Finals were in Dallas, and we did all sorts of fundraisers to get there. I'm so happy for y'all (I live in NYC now), and will be watching with a bursting heart to see you achieve your goal of being National Champs! Best of Luck to you!
Cheriece, your words on behalf of the team are touching and inspirational. You deserve to reach your goal and give these smart, talented young women an opportunity to show off their skill and athleticism. Its exciting to see you getting closer to your target.
