Hello,
My name is Maria Fernanda Hernandez and I am currently a second year studying Environmental and Society with a focus on Justice and Sustainability at UC Berkeley. Going to medical school has always been my dream and I know that in order to achieve that, an incredible amount of effort and passion is necessary. I am currently performing research focused in muscular dystrophy at Children's Hospital Oakland Reseach Institute and I am also the Project Director for Phi Chi, a Pre-Health Society on campus. These experiences have encouraged me to pursue my dreams by reminding me everyday of my true passion. However, as part of the requirements for Medical School one year of physics is required. After talking to several pre-health advisors I decided to apply to the University of Sussex summer physics program in Brighton, England, and a few weeks ago I received an email with an acceptance letter. Studying abroad has always been a dream. I am currently working a part-time job at the university library taking as many shifts as I can in order to save enough money to be able to participate in the program, unfortunately this will not be enough to cover the cost of the program. Any donation to be able to fulfill one of my biggest dreams will be greatly appreciated, your support and help means more than anything to me. Thank you for taking the time to read this.
