Join me on an unprecedented, epic journey!
For the first time in American history, it's now possible to get from the Atlantic to the Pacific by mass transit alone. That's buses, subways, ferries, trams, commuter rail and vanshares.
No need for Amtrak, no need for Greyhound -- and no need whatsoever to ever touch a steering wheel. Suburban and rural transit systems now overlap enough to make it from coast to coast by using only the conveyances that 20 million Americans use to commute every day.
It'll take me two to three months, I figure, traveling no farther in a day than a typical commuter would, and just staying the weekend wherever Friday's afternoon rush hour finds me. That'll give me time to get to know the people who make up the fabric of the United States -- from Wall Street bankers who ride the rails back home to central New Jersey to hard-working laborers who have to travel four hours a day for free to get paid for eight, to all those harried straphangers who have found all the personal space they need between their earbuds.
I'll post stories and videos about my adventures, and maybe get a chance to meet you along the way!
