Help Save Our Samson. Our beautiful 3 and a half year old tabby cat Samson was viciously attacked on Sunday 18th November and is currently receiving round the clock care by the brilliant people at Grove Lodge Vets. He received a stab wound which caused serious internal damage and he underwent 2 emergency surgeries and is hooked up to numerous drips, painkillers and drugs. Somebody with a knife went out of their way to try and kill our poor defenceless cat :( On the recommendation of numerous people we have set up this GoFund Me page to help with his massive vets bills. The current running total is £6300 with him due to be in the vets for at least another few days. Please, if you can spare a couple of quid to help get our boy back home we would greatly appreciate it :) Steve and Seanin X UPDATE: 7 cats have been murdered or maimed since September of this year, in our neighbourhood, and we need your help in raising awareness, so this ‘property’ policy is changed, and the investigation begins. Follow my profile here for further updates- https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=508165487 UPDATE: Samson is making slow but positive progress and the vet is hopeful that he may be able to come home this weekend. The fees are still mounting up so any help would be fantastic! Thank you.

The story so far...

I would like to share the details of the calls and communication I had with the police And the RSPCA this week.

Monday Morning, 19th November, 1.15am

I called to report Samson being stabbed. I detailed that there was a pattern of Stabbings locally, having been carefully and concisely informed as to why these Stabbings had gone unreported. Within five minutes my case was closed.

Wednesday afternoon, 21st November, 3.25pm

I called the police demanding Samson’s case be reopened, and came with my vets confirmation of his being stabbed, and information on other incidents ready to be confirmed, in light of our campaign for awareness reaching the public. I had reached out to the press and informed the police, and explained that I was in talks with the BBC, and the community required answers. They said they would call me back. Caroline Lucas MP also contacted them on our campaign’s behalf.

They posted on Facebook the following morning stating two local cats in our area had been ‘injured’, and an open committee meeting had taken place, which I had not been invited to.

Thursday 22nd November
Myself and the Brighton Cat Owning community flooded social media and Brighton and Hove police’s Facebook page, with demands to have Samson’s case reopened. I received a callback from the RSPCA, which I missed, but nothing from the police.

Friday 23rd November 1.30pm

The police call me, after telling one civilian via third party information that they didn’t know who I was, and wanted me to call them. They opened the call without my file to hand, and quoted my social media campaign. They asked no questions of me regarding Samsons’ case, and stated they wanted my vets statement. I had to remind them they already had it.

Upon being questioned about the policy in place which closed Samson’s case, they said ‘it’s the law’, and I pushed to have explained why criminal damage with a knife confirmed, was considered a clloseable case.

Quoting the inspector: ‘I am not paid enough to know the ins and outs of these policies’

I was informed that they had started their investigation that morning, but the BBC, who I had spoken to, called me to say that they had contacted the police first, and the RSPCA as well, asking for a quote on Samson’s case.

This is why the RSPCA called me, and this is why the police finally called me.

They stated ‘we already have all the information we need about your case’, despite not interviewing me, despite not having my file in front of them, and despite not asking me any questions about Samson’s movements that day.

I attempted to offer the information and wasn’t heard.

This isn’t over. Yes they are investigating, but I want something clear: the RSPCA agree with the police that the Croydon Cat Killer case was FOXES.

We all know it wasn’t. Foxes don’t behead cats and leave them in back yards.

They were exceptionally dismissive of me and chose not to believe me that Samson had been stabbed, asking instead for my vet, FIVE DAYS after Samson’s case had been opened and I had originally approached them. They ONLY called me back with pressure from the BBC.

The police still don’t have the information on Samson’s case that would help them, as I have not been interviewed. I was dismissed on the grounds of ‘no further leads.’ How do they know?

Samson’s case remains closed, and here’s where you come in.

Get your VETS support, if an animal has been injured due to ‘unconfirmed injuries’ otherwise the police write it off and don’t chase it up.

If you know someone whose cat has been harmed or killed, and their animal was not reported, please insist that they come forward to the police and relay the details ANYWAY.

It is important you know this- there have been at least seven cases in our area since earlier this year.

Because of the ‘policy’ and ‘red tape’ around these presumed ‘isolated’ incidents, most of these details go unreported. The police are getting their information from the same place I had mine earlier this week.

At 7.05am this Monday morning, I will be speaking on BBC SouthEast radio with SNARL. I need you listening, and sending this information along.

Without your support, this investigation may come to an unhealthy and frightening close, and more animals will suffer as many already have.

The policy of criminal damage has a subjective loose end- the police decide how ‘terrible’ the damage, and there’s no need to prove or justify ‘why.’ We must keep pushing, we must keep fighting for our animals’ protection, and it is US who will be the ones to ensure that happens.

Send this everywhere and please show your support by donating to Samson’s campaign.

Thank you!!!
