Get Dylan Home

December 23, 2015

To Whom It May Concern ,

On June 7, 2015 at approximately 1am, our son Dylan and two of his friends cimbed up onto the roof of a grain bin approximately 60 to 70 feet in height. Dylan lost his balance and fell to the ground, acquiring several severe injuries.

While Dylan continues to recover from injuries including: whiplash, fractures to his ribs, pelvic bones, shoulder blades, nasal and orbital sockets, we as a family are now dealing with a lifelong and extrememly slow recovery, due to traumatic brain injury (TBI) he acquired from the fall. At this point in time, Dylan can not walk or communicate verbally and is on a feeding tube. He is aware of people around him and his surroundings and moves his hands and feet with limited mobility at this time. Physical therapy is ongoing and speech therapy planned.

As this accident was not covered by Insurance, we find ourselves in financial hardship and are seeking help from our friends and the community. We are now faced with the necessary task of remodeling our home, before he can come home, along with the purchase of special needs equipment, and a modified vehicle for Dylan's ongoing recovery, both here at home and within facilities in the communtiy that work with patients dealing with acquired brain injuries (ABI).

Any help or donation would be greatly appreciated, for it would allow our family, which includes my wife Marjoline and my eldest son David and I, to continue to care for Dylan, who is the youngest in our family.

Dylan, who turned 20 yers old in the hospital on June 23, 2015, continues to fight to regain who he was, while coming to understand who he is going to be.

He will soon be leaving St. Vincents Hospital here in Ottawa for Hamilton, where he will be staying at the Hamilton Health Science Center, which has a six-bed slow recovery acquired brain injury program (ABIP), to undergo extensive therapy.

Thank you all so very much for taking the time to hear our story.
