Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease (CMT), named after the three doctors who first identified it, is one of the most common inherited nerve disorders. CMT affects an estimated 1 in 2,500 people in the United States and 2.6 million people worldwide, although experts believe the number could be much higher.

Royce has it.  And he goes to Great River Montessori , an awesome school.

Hi, I'm Dean Johnson (AKA CroonerDean -- as there are multiple dean Johnson's in town), a special needs Dad, Architect, Musician and Storyteller.  I really could use your help funding this special bike that will, and has an a sense, really transformed his young life and outlook

This year's final 7th-8th grade key experience is a 4-day 100-mile bike ride /camping tripi at the end of May 2018 .

Royce was NOT going to ride in the cargo bus.
Every Mile was going to be on a bike.

45 minutes research led Royce to the Specialized 2.0 e-Mointain Bike  in Acid Lava color.  Click here for a YouTube review..

Royce believes E-bikes are the future, and hopes his big ride helps others have the courage to embrace technology that eraces the obstacles that come between themselves and their better selves.

Thanks for all your support!  It means SO much to us!

Update! Steve, Erik's Bike Shop's  Roseville Marketing Manager,, and the owner of Specialized Bikes  reduced our credit card debt by $450. 00  for what they cal "Ambassador" pricing.  GO Ebikes!  Must Try to Believe.  There is no other way.  THe feeling cannot be described,

We are especially grateful as my main source of Home Design work went a different direction, and Patty also has Muscular Dystrophy and a relatively revent head injury, and has stopped working.

Thanks for your generosity and support for Royce and our family,  Please email me via my CroonerDean.com website! or CroonerDean{at} Gmail.com email.

Hi. Royce's dad here. Thanks everyone for your support of Royce. It has helped us so much, and Royce is on track to go on his big ride Tomorrow!!!

He got his bike tuned up at Erik's. Joe had told me over the phone when I called, that the gears clicking was just a sign that Royce was making good use of his new bike. It is normal for the cables to stretch as the bike is used the first several times.

Jess was the technician and she showed us the three ways the cable can be adjusted, and in about 30 seconds had the gears shifting perfectly again.

The Great River students had a big prep week last week - once they rode their bikes on a half day ride, and another day they had a full day ride. Royce has been pretty tired after all that riding.

We have been doing a little prep on out own. Last week we went on rides around Lake Nokomis, and a late ride around Como Lake.

Today is Wednesday, when all the kids at Great River Montessori who will go on the 100 mile trip get to practice their bike riding skills in preparation for the mammoth 100 mile ride.

Royce had taken a minor spill the other day on an icy patch in our alley, and so that may be why his second gear is acting a little jumpy. He has to avoid second gear for now, till he finds out why the noisiness with it.

Royce and his Specialized 2.0 e-bike are scheduled to go into ERIK's Bike shop in Roseville for his first scheduled bike tune-up with Joe soon, so I will let you know what they think about the gear shifting issue - whether it might have been from the fall, or just a minor adjustment that needs to be done because the bike is so new.

Royce rode with his friends an HOUR AND A HALF today during school hours. He should sleep great tonight!

By the way, did you know the owner of Specialized believes riding bikes during the day is a good reliever of ADD symptoms that are so prevalent in kids (and adults) Royce is diagnosed with ADD, as am I, by the way, I'm sure the exercise is a great help, in addition to effective medication as needed.

Thanks again everybody for your encouragement and financial support!
