WB4GBI 145.47 repeater batteries
Donation protected
The 145.47 repeater has been on the air serving East Tennessee since 1981. Since 2007, it has operated from high atop Cross Mountain at 3500 AMSL. It serves more East Tennessee areas than any other WB4GBI repeater and is by far the busiest of any of the WB4GBI repeaters. It is home to several nets, including nets that support emergency communications, such as SKYWARN and ARES. However, the repeater has no emergency backup power, and if the main power fails, it will be unable to serve, resulting in a serious problem when communication needs are critical. Four low-maintenance, gel-type, deep-cycle batteries are needed, along with a battery charger/conditioner in order to keep the repeater on the air for an extended time during a power failure, The batteries cost $200 each, and the remaining funds would be used for the battery conditioner and a battery-backup alarm for the repeater. Any funds raised above this amount will be used for general repeater maintenance. This funds request was inspired by several WB4GBI repeater users that wanted to support the 145.47 repeater. It would be wonderful to have the very first repeater I ever placed on the air to be the first repeater that I have with a battery backup. I would really appreciate your support.
