Dylan Engebretsens' Diabetes Dog

Donation protected
For three years now, Dylan Engebretsen has been a type 1 diabetic.  They call it a managable disease, and to manage it, we poke him ~150+ times a month to test blood sugar, and then another ~150+  shots per month for insulin injections.  It also can be expensive, but we are managing that cost as best we can.  Rachael and I talk about getting Dylan a blood glucose meter, or an insulin  pump, but 70% of type 1 diabetics just keep the shots and manual blood sugar testing.  We are not sold on the meter or pumps either.  However we think we may have a good family solution.
It is so critically  important to keep Dylans blood sugar between 100 and 200 mg/dL, however, it is very hard to do, but we think we have a solution.  We read about diabetic children not waking up, becuase the blood sugar goes too low in the middle of the night.  We read about the loss of sight, the loss of limbs, and also have seen a case of nerve damage as Dylan almost lost his finger In April  due to a simple pinch and a resulting blood infection.   IF we could keep his blood sugar flat, his life would be healthier and better.
So, here is the proposal, and the reason I am asking for your help.  There is a company in Nevada, that sells dogs to families; and these diabetic service dogs serve the patient.  They are trained to smell the changes in blood sugar, the highs and lows and notify the patient and or the parent, when its too hight and or low.  They fly in and arrive with the dog, and help train, bond them with the patient, parents and family, and then that dog will help and become Dylans blood sugar meter.    We are hoping to have the funds this by Fall 2017.  Thank you for your help
