Help me find *health* again

Spende geschützt
Like this photo of me, a small speck on vastness of a beach, I'm not really anybody important. I'm no more important than the people who need money for a place to live, or for their own medical bills, or someone trying to pay for a school trip to further their learning.

But I'm in need of help. Desperately.

You see, I have a mess of medical issues, both physical and mental (which you can read about in detail on my blog in a number of posts ). (Also, see below for more details.)

I started this campaign last April, I had no idea I'd still need help this far along. But I do. So I'm updating this description (on 3/22/16; almost a year later!).

I see an integrative doctor, an acupuncturist, a pain doctor, a chiropractor, a psychiatrist, and a therapist. I've been to physical therapy (which helped me walk more normally but I've stopped due to lack of funds), and lots of specialists (endocrinologist, orthopeadist, ear/nose/throat dr, neurologist, etc.)

In 2015, we spent aproximately $8,500 on my health, most of which went on credit cards (and yes, that's with insurance). (The rest was paid for with donations from this campaign. Thank you.)

------------------------------------------------------------------

So, here is my story:

My physical health issues include fibromyalgia (which means I hurt. ALL. THE. TIME.), osteo arthritis (also pain), costochondritis (which means it hurts to breath sometimes, and really hurts to sneeze), migraines, insomnia, untreated scoliosis, and severe back pain that no pain medication can even touch. I also suffer from mental illnesses: depression, anxiety, mild OCD and PTSD.

Since my first post 10 months ago, I have also been diagnosed with a variety of food allergies (including gluten. bummer), toxic mold allergy, chronic Epstein Barr Virus (which makes me tired all the time), radiculopathy (nerve damage in my neck; may require surgery, but we aren't sure), a bunch of spinal damage, and thyroid issues. AND I have the start of glaucoma, so I have to use drops every night. And wear my glasses again.

I was teaching full-time at a local university, but I had to resign because the job requirements exacerbated my symptoms and made me hurt far, far worse. It essentially crippled me.

I've looked for another job, but a) I'm not getting any responses because I'm of a "certain age" and experience level (20 years in marketing communications) and b) there isn't much I can do, because, well, there's not much I can physically do. The slightest "extra" physical activity means I am in severe pain. (And by "extra", I mean "cleaning the kitty litter" or "doing the laundry".)

You should also know this about me, if you don't know me personally: I hate, hate hate to ask for help, no matter how much I need it. I've been working hard my whole life to support myself - since I was 14. I paid my way through college and grad school. Everything I have, I earned. And whenever I could, I've helped others, either by donating money or volunteering or signal boosting on social media.

Me asking for help for medical expenses feels like a huge failure, on top of the failure I feel for being unable to work.

But I can't go it alone. I'm swallowing the damn lump of tears and pride in my throat, and I'm asking for help: help in the form of funds to pay for the medical care I so desperately need and that will allow me to get better and become a contributing member of society once again.

------------------------------------------------------------------

So, to summarize:

• I need continued monetary help to:
• pay for medical expenses so I can
• get well (someday?) and
• continue to help others.

I appreciate any amount you can donate, and if you can't donate, I appreciate you sharing my campaign.

Blessings to you all -
