Rally for Joy

My mom was rushed to the hospital on 8/8 after an aneurism in her brain burst. They also discovered a second aneurism waiting to go. They were located directly in the center of her brain which made getting to it quite tricky. On 8/9 they performed major brain surgery to correct both aneurisms. They discovered more swelling than they expected and were forced to remove a portion of her frontal lobe because of this. They do not know yet what affect this will have on her. She aspirated at some point and they believe she began to develop pneumonia so they have kept her in life support while also giving her antibiotics. They are watching closely to make sure she does not stroke out as it is a very real possibility. She will be in the ICU for two weeks, after which she will be transferred to an inpatient rehabilitation facility depending on the amount of damage the brain has sustained. She could lose her vision, ability to speak, or even walk. She could also be just a little slow in the beginning but adjust fine. Anything is possible with traumatic brain injuries. She is the primary worker in her household due to my dads multiple health issues and we do not know what to expect right now as far as prognoses after surgery. This on top of her not having health insurance has put a severe financial strain on my dad who is already beside himself. I’m trying to raise anything I can to help take some pressure off of tbem
so they can just focus on healing for my mom. The surgery itself is just insanely expensive, and the medical bills are going to continue to grow as she heals.
